In My Head

Chapter 3

I take my time to eat my delicious plate of bacon and bowl of ice cream. Once we all finish we bring our plates to the washing station and wait in the line to wash our dishes. It's a stupid rule that we have to live with in this place. Unfortunately that's not the worst of it. Anyways Zero was standing behind me in the lineup for dish cleaning.

"How was your pile of bacon and ice cream?" Zero questioned me.

"Fantastic!" I spoke loudly, i saw Dahlia cover her ears.

"Whoops.. I didn't mean to be that loud." I blush. He took a moment to smile at me before turning around to talk to Ashley.

By the time we had gotten to the front of the line. We both quickly rinsed our dishes and started heading back to our gloomy rooms forgetting about the whole night. Ashley took a moment to whisper something to Zero before walking away.

"What was that about?" I sneered. I was hoping he'd answer, because if he didn't i'd be wondering what it was all night, until it was the time of the night to "forget".

"Hmm? Oh, what Ash said? It was nothing, she was just telling me to tell some girl i like her."

"Oh you like someone huh? Anyone would be lucky to have you in their life Zero. Don't be shy to tell her."

"Thank you Ellie. This is exactly why I like you." He smiles, i could tell he was hoping for a answer. Yet i couldn't bring myself to say anything verbally. Seconds after, I kissed him on the cheek. His eyes lit up like a light. I ran away just before he could say anything, even before i could say anything. I looked back and saw him blushing. I knew we were both going to forget what happened, and that thought caused tears to fall from my face. This was a night i wish i could remember.

    I'm struggling, I'm trying to keep the memory of tonight, but i keeps chipping away. Piece by piece.

Soon after, i fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning to a loud buzzer, it was the sound of the machine that caused us to forget everything, the only part that was slightly off, is the fact that i was awake. Nobody's ever awake. I layed there with my eyes facing the wall. I slowed my breath so they wouldn't notice i'm awake. About an hour had passed, and the sound finally stopped. I thought about everything. All my memories. They were all flooding back. Was it because i was awake? Last night wasn't the first time i had kissed Zero. All the memories i had of him were flooding back. What will they do to me if they realize i remember? I can't tell anyone about this... Not anyone at all.
