CHAPTER 7
Josh's P.O.V.Being the idiot I am, I try go through the day as if nothing happened.
Well I was until she walked, no not that she but that she.
Dark winged eyeliner and hot pink lipstick with the most complex updo I've ever seen. Bits twisted here and there, to be blunt it is defining the laws of gravity.
This is the side of the person you wish you would never have to meet.
Could this really be Jen?
I have to take a step back and stare at the titled floor while I try to make sense if this whole situation. The tiles coldness is seeping through my sneakers just like the thoughts clouding my head.
Leven is in the class next door so I don't think she has anything to do with it. Jennifer looks awfully uncomfortable and I don't blame her! Skirt tucked up high and what looks like the tightest shirt I've ever seen. How can anyone wear this?! Unless of course they are Leven!
As I look up I see a pair of bright eyes, at least these haven't changed.
"What were you looking at?" She says with a supposedly adorable giggle and twirl of her blonde hair.
"You..." But what I really wish I said was, You look different, is it the socks? In a sarcastic manner.
"Why?" She puckers her lips in an attempt to look either hot or cute, or maybe both.
Without thinking, I roll my eyes and turn in the direction of my seat, which is right next to hers. I give myself a silent punch for being rude.
I wonder if she will keep this up. I don't like this Jennifer, I liked the old Jen. The beautiful and clumsy one. Where is she?
"Have you seen Jennifer today?" I ask Jen herself. She looks puzzled for a split second then says,
"This is Jen now-"
"Why!" I say cutting her off harshly.
Slightly hurt but obviously trying not to show it, she answers,
"Because I am happy like this!"I can tell when she lies because she never looks me in the eye.
"Fine, but that Jen was cool and different but this Jen isn't the one I gave my phone number to. Just keep that in mind." I feel angry and I can't think of one good reason why.
"You say this as if I'm doing it for you! Well, you're wrong. Anyway, why do you even care?!" She says with a hint of both nerves and hatred.
Another turn of her head.
I sigh and shake me head.
I give up.
As I turn my attention back to the class I try to reengage with the teachings but I keep catching myself sneaking a peek at Jen.
Again and again and again.
+++
Finally the bells ear-splitting sound goes off, but for the first time ever it is just the sound I wanted to hear.
I take my time today, I am in no rush, it looks to me like Jen also has no where to be.
She walks over to the bin, glances around, she quickly drops a page in and hurries out. I make sure not to catch her eye, I don't want her to think I care. Her eyes were nervous which only get me wondering what she throw in the bin.
