Chapter 2 ~ First day

CHAPTER 2

Josh's P.O.V.

I check my phone one more time, she must be giving me the silent treatment. This is ridiculous! This is how she deals with a situation like this!

Leven and I have been dating for almost half a year now, but things went downhill. I told her in the nicest way possible, she seemed to take it well at the time. But now, apparently not! I must confront her and ask her why she doesn't want to just stay at 'friends'.

Don't get me wrong she is an amazing, beautiful person but I knew we just wouldn't last.

How much time has past?

Last time I looked around me I was waiting for the bell just like everyone else. But now I stand alone.

"Damn!" I say a little to loudly.

I quickly shove my phone and headphones into my bag and sprint towards my classroom. By the time I reach the door I realise I forgot to leave my bag at my locker, but I can't worry about that now. I drop it near the door and try to flatten my hair.

I open the door after knocking 4 times, I didn't notice how hot my cheeks were until everyone else in my class had noticed. I hear a wave of giggling spread across the room. For a short time everyone is either laughing at me or taking it as an opportunity to talk with a friend.

Everyone but one girl I don't recognise, I catch her stare but she quickly turns her head in an attempt to look busy.

Her beautiful blonde hair falls gently on her shoulders and her eye gleam with excitement or even a hint of terror, I can't tell. Her lips look soft and delicate, I bet they would be even more beautiful if they were curled into a smile.

Now I am the one stealing me own stare back.

Just then a voice brakes into my thoughts,

"Joshua! What are you doing coming late to me class!?"

"I'm sorry Sir, I just lost track of the time." I reply without looking at him.

Well that was the lamest excuse you've ever pulled! I think to myself.

"Look at me young man!"

I do admit that the voice sounds familiar, although I'm sure if this is a good thing. I slowly look up but to my surprise I am greeted with the grinning face of Mr Harrleson.

"I'll let you off today because it's the first day back to school and you aren't usually late." He tells me still with a smile plastered across his face.

"Thank you, it won't happen again!" I say with a smile of my own.

"Take a sit so we can get started." He says as more of a reminder than a command.

I look around to see that the only spare sit is in between the girl I don't recognise and my old friend Liam Hemsworth. He gives me a small smile and a nod, the other girl, I can only assume is new, look from me to the sit next to her, indicating that that's were I should sit.

I give both of them my best thank-you smile and take my sit.

The class is Science, now I'm not what people call 'smart' but I try my best.

Every time I check the clock I think it's tricking me, it's going faster than it should. The next thing I know everyone has packed up and are heading out the door.

Snatching up my things from my desk I hurry out the door.

"Damn it!" I hear someone behind me say under her breath.

I turn around to see a girl through the glass door shuffling around on the floor collecting her books and pencil case which has now been spread all over the ground.

I quickly open the door and apologise, she looks up at me and I realise she the one who sits next to me. I'm sure she recognises me because she smiles and says,

"No problem! I'm pretty clumsy."

I see that I was right by assuming that her smile would be beautiful.

"You're Josh, right?" She breaks the ice for both of our sakes.

"Yeah, that's me! Are you new here?" I reply as smoothly as I can.

"Yep, my names Jennifer, but I like Jen better." She sounds so casual, I know she is having a hard time carting that many books, I think I should help her. So that's just what I do.

When we reach her locker she says,

"Thanks for all your help Josh!"

I reply by saying, "Anytime Jen!"

I turn to start towards my locker but she adds, "Wait! Umm Josh, where are the girls bathroom?"

I can tell she didn't want to have to ask me that, she is biting at the inside of her cheek.

"Just down the hallway and to your right! Oh and don't worry I got lost a lot when I was new, so if you need help, I'm here." I say and I mean it.

"Thank you again!" she says with a smile, and then she is heading for the bathroom.

I am still standing there for a whole minute, dazed. I finally snap out of it and go to my own locker.

That chapters a bit longer, I think I was a good length.

The next chapter is going to be from the P.O.V. of Jen.
