MASON

I can't believe they let her live through that. I can't make myself believe it. I can't bring myself to it. I wasn't there for her. I could have stopped it but no fate had to make us find each other so much later. When I rejected her, I was even thinking about what she could have gone through I was thinking about me. My reputation as the fearful and popular guy in school; my reputation as Alpha of the Midnight Sun pack.

All I can say is that I wasn't thinking straight. I know that there isn't any excuse valuable for what I did but I want to make it right. But at the same time why would she give me a chance to make it right. When she remembers about the rejection she will probably hate me. Hell, she will hate me.

"Mason, can I talk to you?" I hear Melissa ask behind me.

"Yah, sure," I say. "What do you want?"

I turn to look at her. She had a worried, pained, serious look and her face.

"What is it?" I demanded.

"You need to see this," she said as she handed me the file she was holding.

I reach for it. "What is this?"

"It's Samantha's hospital records," Melissa simply said.

"Oh," I said as I opened it.

I read:

Dear Lord...

She was going to have a pup of a guy who rapped her. She lost the baby because of her pack. I wasn't there for her.

SAMANTHA

So I'm getting released today and I think Mason is coming to get me. I still haven't gotten any more flashbacks since this morning. Melissa is with me checking my blood pressure. My heartbeat is normal and just about everything else is except my memory.

"Okay, your blood pressure is going back to normal," Melissa informed me.

"Okay thanks," I say. "You're a good friend."

"You're a good friend too," she says.

I got my IV taken off earlier and everything else. I got clothes too: red t-shirt and black jeans with red flats.

"I'll be back whenever Mason comes if he does," Melissa says. I nod and she walks out.

Everything seems to disappear away again.

I'm on a hospital bed with a doctor next to me. I feel something cold on my stomach. I look down and I see a gel. The doctor is moving a white tube thing around my stomach.

"Look at that," she says. "You're pregnant, congrats."

"What? No, this is not happening," I freak out.

"Honey, you're caring a pup inside of you," she says.

My eyes shed tears. I can't believe it. This can't be happening. I can't be carrying Jason's pup inside of me. I can't carry the baby of a rapist.

Everything around me comes back. My eyes really are shedding tears down my checks. Mason is standing in front of me.

"Are you okay?" he asks. I nod.

"Yeah, I think so," I say.

"Another flashback?" he asks. I nod again.

"Okay, Melissa is on her way. You can tell her what it was about," Mason says. Melissa come in a few seconds later.

"Okay, tell me Sam," she says.

"Okay," I say. "It was the flashback when I found out that I was pregnant with Jason's baby. I freaked and I was in shock. I couldn't believe it."

I start sobbing even more.

"I was pregnant with his baby. The baby of a rapist was inside of me," I sob out.

"Shhh. It's okay," Melissa soothes me. "Do you remember what happened to the pup?"

"No. I don't remember. Not yet anyway," I respond.

"Do you want to know now?" Melissa asks.

I nod my head into a "yes."

"You had a miscarriage caused by malnutrition and blows to your stomach," she says. "The baby died."

Oh my god, they made me lose my baby.

"Can I get out of here?" I ask.

"Of course you can," Melissa says. "Come back to visit or when you need me, okay?"

"Okay," I said giving her a small smile.

"Okay let's go," Mason says.

I stand up from the bed and walked towards him. He embraces me and walks me out. I'm finally outside in the fresh air where I can breathe normally.

"Samantha?" Mason starts.

"Hm?" I respond.

"I'm going to take you somewhere tomorrow afternoon," he informs. "It might help you recover your memory."

"Okay," I say.

He walked me into the pack house. There where pack members in some areas of the house as we walked through it. Some girls glared at me and others looked at me like they wanted to know who I am. I didn't have the mind to think about anything. The only thing on my mind was destroying the pack that hurt me. Mason rejected me. If he wants me back he will have to prove it.
