Both of us got inside the cell, it was now dimly lit. There was broken down furniture inside which consisted of a couch, table, and pillows. A small bonsai tree was placed on the table, it looked strangely healthy with flowers blooming and the leaves shimmering under the dim light.

"How thoughtful of the-"

"Shh," Felix hushes, cutting me off "Be quiet for now, child"

He goes near the bonasai tree and sat on the floor and merely looked at it. I sat down beside Felix and looked between him and the bonsai curiously.

"Tell me, child," he says after an hour of looking at the bonsai

"Tell you what?"

"How did you feel after killing the man?"

I opened my mouth to answer something but I was at a loss for words at what I've done.

"I see... but that was only the first." Felix says, I looked at him, scared.

"You mean I-I'll k-k-kill m-more people?!" I ask, horrified

"Do not worry, my child. You'll get used to it." he replies simply

"But I don't want to murder-"

"Yes, but murder is such an ugly word. How about you use the word discipline?" Felix interjects.

"Fine, but I still don't want to discipline anyone!" I retort.

Felix stayed silent. The whole room went silent, eerie echoes filled the silence. I didn't know how long we stayed silent. After what was about an hour of staring at the bonsai tree Felix started to speak.

"Let me tell you something, my child. Something about the tree of corruption" he says and then stays silent for a moment before speaking again.

"There was a tree once, the Tree of Life, as the name suggests it gave life to all things, it gave nourishment and protection to all who were part of the tree. One day, three men arrived the city where the tree of life was located. They claimed that they knew the secrets of the tree, secrets that will give them access to powers that will help them protect themselves and the city, the men of course, agreed, they wanted to protect the tree so it may save others with its power. The three men taught the townspeople spells the art of fighting and they gave strange weapons and armor but nonetheless it protected them. But one day..." Felix stops.

"What happened?" I ask, intrigued.

"The people... they started, decaying. For an unknown reason. It was like the black plague. Every morning the twonspeople found out that some people died of dangerous diseases. It was a horrific sight. Every person who died had diseases that cannot be explained. It continued on for five years, the population of the city kept dwindling and then.... the tree of life... they found the tree of life turned into something nightmarish. The once golden brown bark of the tree became black and as tar, the branches , instead of being tender became sharp and poisonous. And last of all the leaves, once golden and green turned deathly white and sharp. The Tree of Life became the Tree of Corruption... the brothers strangely dissappeared during the incident" Felix stops for a moment to breathe, his maggots departed from his stomach and settled themselves on my leg.

"How do you know all of this?" I ask him, he merely chuckled.

"From visions during my stay here." he replies as he stroked the leaves of the bonsai.

"Where is the Tree located?" I ask as I patted each maggots head with my fingers.

"Here, my child. At the center of this labyrinth the Tree stands dead as ever."

"Wait. So you mean this is were the city was located?" I ask, Felix nods. I looked at the Bonsai tree and pondered about the possibilities if I had the power of the tree.

I can escape from this place.
