A/N: Exhaustion is the worst enemy you could have. I am so tired, so unmotivated and I believe this to be early signs of writer's block. Oh my god..... Pray for me.

__________

The growing Heathen army packed the great hall. Thralls laughed with aim of a lord's bed. Men spoke of battle and the scars their bodies beheld. All night mead was poured, songs bounced off the walls and new faces emerged from the darkness, into the fire light.

Lagertha sat amongst it all as a queen. Her golden locks were braided back and her emotions unknown due to her straight laced expression. Patiently, she waited for her daughter, you.

With your older brother Bjorn, you travelled the Mediterranean. There you saw faces of the old and ones of the new, including your half-brother Hvitserk. You climbed the boat with a new found excitement, eventually to be greeted by the young Viking. If you didn't hit him so much he wouldn't have left you alone. Your older brother stared daggers at him all through the journey. Watching his brother unable to get you into his bed had Bjorn relieved, he didn't want you used. People knew he was fixated on blessing you with the perfect husband.

When it reached Hvitserk's ears you were in fact Bjorn's sister... You had never seen a boy so fearful for his life. Again and again he apologised, he only thought his older brother to be jealous at first, wanted to tease him. But, that proved to be a different story.

Once you falsely congratulated your mother on acquiring the title of Queen. You sat amongst all of those Bjorn called brothers, allowing you to observe how Ivar assessed the great hall. While he laid across the ground, a cup of mead fixed in his grasp. You were awestruck. Bjorn, Ubbe, Hvitserk nor could Sigurd understand your interest in their youngest brother.

In some way, you knew he held a strength no one you knew possessed. It was raw ambition and determination that sat behind his blue orbs, power was what he desired through pure want. He was a warrior you would be willing to follow.

"And who is the cripple?" You questioned before bringing your cup to your lips.

"That is Ivar, the youngest of Ragnar's sons" Bjorn pointed out.

At first, you were shocked as to how a king had him as a legacy. Later on however, you realised two things, Ivar had an interest in you and absolutely despised your mother. It was a dislike you both had in common.

"And what is he like?" You continued.

"I wouldn't waste your breath on him, the crazy little bastard knows nothing" Sigurd mumbled, his tone condescending as well as disrespectful.

"And I guess you have seen war? Been on front lines of battle? I am willing to assume he knows more than the prince who plays the oud", at that you rose from your seat, downed your drink and approached Ivar and Ubbe.

You could feel your brother's disapproving eyes following your figure.

Ivar was the key. You were a princess. But, Queen sounded much more appealing.

The sons of Ragnar and Aslaug wouldn't doubt you were a strong shieldmaiden. Hvitserk knew it personally, he had the scars and bruises to prove so. But, then there was that addicting beauty you possessed.

The first moment you saw them, you knew you already had four loyal followers. And they didn't know that, until you were sitting beside Ivar as the Queen of Kattegat.
