You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide"Wow." P.T. gaped at what Phillip held out in his hand.
"You like it?" Phillip asked nervously, closing the lid of the box and slipping it into his pant pocket.
"Like it? Phillip, it's gorgeous." P.T. said. "She'll love it."
"You think so?"
"I know so."
"And you know everything." Phillip finished for his friend, rolling his eyes.
"That's right I do." P.T. nodded. "I also know that she'll say yes."
Phillip shook his head. "Oh no. You don't get to jinx it like that. Take that back."
P.T. frowned. "I will not. She'll say yes. What reason would she have not to?"
Phillip frowned at didn't say anything.
P.T. waited a moment and didn't say anything. "Alright. I gotta go. Good luck."
Phillip smiled as his friend patted him on the back on his way out of the tent they were standing in.
"So, when are you going to do it?" A voice asked from behind him.
Philip spun on his heals. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to tell you something but it doesn't matter now." Said the familiar face of his friend Lettie.
She moved closer to him and sat in the chair that was previously occupied by P.T. "so, when are you going to do it?"
Phillip stiffened. He wanted to keep this as on the down low as possible and everyone knew Lettie was a huge gossip. "I don't know what you mean."
Lettie snorted. "Oh, come on. I saw the ring! It's beautiful by the way! She's going to love it!"
Phillip couldn't help himself from a small smile.
"So, our with it then, when are you going to do it? No, no! How? How is much more important!" Lettie rambled. "You should do it during one of the performances! Oh no, maybe Anne would prefer something more person, more untainted. Maybe you could-"
"Lettie." Phillip stopped her. "I haven't figured anything out yet."
Phillip expected her to be upset with him that's he hadn't thought more about it but instead it seemed like her excitement escalated. "I can help you!"
"Lettie, I..."
"Oh please! It'll be fun!" Lettie pleaded, but she knew she had already won. "Here, practice on me. I'll pretend to be Anne and you can propose."
"I don't gene know how to start." He pouted.
"Just... speak from the heart." Lettie prided.
Phillip swallowed and rolled his shoulders back, staring at Lettie head on. "Anne. I love you. Marry me."
Lettie frowned. "No."
Phillip blinked. "What. Why not?"
"That was awful. There no romance!" She cried.
"Well, that was encouraging." Phillip said sarcastically. "Thanks anyway."
"Just think about what you love about her." Lettie lectured. "What's the first thing that comes to mind when someone says her name?"
"Who are we talking about?" Said a voice from the entryway.
"Anne." Phillip said quickly on greeting towards her.
"Are you two gossip like children?" She teased making her way further into the tent. "You know when you talk about someone you should make sure they're not nearby."
"Oh no. We weren't talking about you." Lettie replied quickly.
A chuckled cross her face. "I didn't say that you were."
She got them beat. "So who were you talking about?"
"The, uh," Phillip glanced to Lettie. "The new girl. The one who can bend her body into the circle four different ways."
"Yeah." Lettie nodded. "It's like she has no bones."
Anne smiled. "Ok. Well, I should get back to rehearsals. W.D.'s probably looking for e already."
"No, please, stay." Phillip said.
She shook her head, her eyes lingering on Phillip. "I just stopped by to say hello."
And as quickly as she had arrived she was gone.
"She's something alright." Phillip said, staring blankly at the place where once stood.
Lettie chuckled. "Wow. Anne's got you whipped."
