But you're here in my heart
So who can stop me

The next day, WD was surprised to find Anne sleeping in the bed next to his own.

"Anne?" He shook her awake.

She stirred. "What it is?"

"What are you doing here?" WD asked. "I thought you would be back tomorrow."

"Why's that?" She asked in response, sitting up and pushing her curly hair out of her face.

WD frowned. Maybe Phillip hasn't proposed last night. He probably just chickened out.

He shook his head. "No reason,"

Anne grunted and threw herself back into bed, covering herself with the woven blanket.

W.D. sighed. "Well, its time to get up anyway. I was thinking maybe we could start working on that new routine today so that we could have it done by next week."

Anne grimaced and peeked her face out of the covers. "I think I should just stay home today." She winced ya her brother. "I don't feel well."

Panic washed over WD face, knowing how contagious and life threatening the flu could be these days. "You think you have the flu?"

Anne shook her head. "I'll just need a couple days before I think I should be flying through the air."

That was a lie. She didn't feel bad at all. The truth was she didn't want to run into Phillip. Her embarrassment level couldn't take that. Neither could her heart.

W.D. nodded. "When I see Phillip, I'll send him over to check in on you," he offered.

Anne shook her head violently. "No!" She answer quickly. She wasn't ready to tell anyone about what had happened last night. Not even her brother.

"I just don't want him to see me like this." Anne lied through her teeth.

WD nodded. It was very unlike Anne to even be sick at all let alone admit to be sick. He knew how much practicing and getting things right meant to her.

WD left soon after their brief conversation, leaving Anne alone. Anne thought about getting some food but couldn't get her legs to carry her out of bed. She thought of going back to sleep but her thoughts were too awake to let her eyes rest. There was nothing for her to do but lie in bed and think about the huge mistake she had made.

She loved Phillip. She really did. She wanted nothing more than to marry him and together they could live their lives together. But one day he wouldn't want the adventure anymore. One day he would give up fighting for them to be together and just give up. It was better to end things now before anyone got hurt. Well, even more hurt.

Phillip thought about not showing up to work today. Letting someone take care of everything, maybe they would call P.T. or maybe they would just let everything fall to pieces without him. He didn't really care.

But instead he just arrived late. It was hard enough, getting out of bed so he thought he might as well. Besides, he was dying to see Anne. Even if she wouldn't look at him he still wanted to make she was ok.

But when Phillip arrived, Anne was no where in sight.

He found WD wrapping his hands next to a hoop and decided to ask him. To make sure she got home alright. He cursed himself for not at least waking her home.

"WD." Phillip called as he strided toward him.

W.D. looked up from his hands. "If it isn't the heart breaker."

Phillip stopped short. "What," he whispered.

But WD broke into a smile. "I can't believe you didn't do it last night like you said you would,"

Phillip exhaled a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Do what?"

"Propose." WD said as if it were obvious. "You said you were going to do it last night."

Phillip realized Anne hadn't told WD what had happened. He supposed he should be grateful. If she had be would probably be beating his brain out right now. Not that he even did anything wrong.

"No," Phillip lied. "I didn't. I got scared at the last moment."

"Well, when do you plan to strike again?" WD asked.

Phillip shrugged. "I don't know. I was actually just looking for her."

"Anne?" WD clarified as if it weren't obvious. "Oh, she's sick today."

A wave of panic washed over Phillip. Anne was never sick and when she was she wouldn't admit. This must be bad.

"Is she ok?"

W.D. nodded solemnly. "She said she was. You should go in and check on her."

Phillip looked to the sand floors. "Oh, I don't think that's such a good idea."

"Why not?" WD asked. "If your going to marry her might as well see what she looks like when she's ill. Through sickness and health, right?"

Philip winced at his quotation. "Right."

WD patted his friend on the back. "Well, I gotta get back to it."

"Of course," Phillip nodded.

Should he go over there? Anne could've pretended to be sick so that she wouldn't have to see him. Or she could be really ill and he couldn't get bother because he was so self absorbed. He really did want to see Anne. And this was the perfect excuse.
