Once upon a time......

In a far far away land there lived a man called Ginawa Para in a town called 'Imungkahi Lupa'.

The town had a ritual of proposing your loved one on one special day. The day was believed to be blessed by the goddess 'Kapalaran'.

Ginawa Para wished only for one thing in his life. The wish was to marry the daughter of the miller. A beautiful and smart woman she was, indeed.

He didn't know how to do it. One day he heard the rumour that the miller was looking for a handsome and rich man for her daughter. He felt miserable for he was neither handsome nor rich but he could sing sweeter than a nightingale.

"What are you thinking, my friend?" came a voice. The worst part was that the daughter of a miller was Ginawa Para's precious and only friend. He knew how Isa't Isa thought about marriage.

To see the world is my dream;
Marriage is nothing but a leash;
To go to the places I have never been;
I will never marry, I shall scream;
To see the world is my dream.

Ginawa Para had heard the love of his life singing the song for many a time. He too wished for her wish to come true.

"Dear friend, father is going to marry me away." She said with worry and fear in her voice. "I don't wish to marry. Help your friend, sweet one." She pleaded.

"Your wish is my command, merry one." He promised.

Ginawa Para roamed street after street in search of something to make the love of his happy and to make her wish come true.

He went from shop to shop until he saw a woman. An old lady with charms surrounding her and her shop.

"Greetings old lady, I wish to see what you sell." He requested.

"I sell what you seek, Ginawa Para." The old lady spoke. Ginawa Para was stunned. "I also know the reason you are here."

"Lies doesn't suit you, old lady. I demand to know who you are?" He asked infuriated.

"The one who can make the wish of the love of your life come true. She seeks the world and you seek her love. Only one can come true. You have to make a choice, young one. Your wish or her?" The old lady asked.

"My happiness lies in her smiles, old lady. I would wish for nothing but her wishes to come true." He said without a hesitation.

The old lady gave him a charm and warned him that the moment his love wished upon the charm, his voice will be gone as a price.

"Greetings merry one, I bought something for you." He said to the daughter of the miller.

"What is it, dear friend?" She chirped happily.

"It's a charm to make your wish come true. The whole town will be celebrating the festival and wishing from the goddess
'Kapalaran' and you too can wish for your dream to come true and this charm will make it come true." He said watching the delighted face of his love.

"Where did you get it?" She asked still smiling.

"And old lady gave it to me when I told her how you wish you see the world and dream to go places." He didn't lie. The old lady said that she knew everything about his love.

The night came and Ginawa Para sat alone in a corner watching people propose each other and get blessings from the goddess. His voice was gone means the miller's daughter had made a wish.

Ginawa Para was sadly happy. A happiness consisting of sadness. Love, indeed, is an interesting mixture.

He waited for the night to end until he heard the miller running toward him.

"Where were you on earth, dear goddess. Your bride awaits you, young man." The miller ordered and before Ginawa Para could question the miller dragged him away with him.

Ginawa Para's breath stopped as soon as he saw the sight.

Isa't Isa stood there in all her glory with a smile brighter than any star and warmer than any star.

"Would you care for a dance?" Isa't Isa asked. He stood there bewildered until the lady came closer.

His arms around her and her hand around him, they danced like a pair. Ginawa Para tried to speak but it was all in vain. He thought it was all a dream.

"You never asked what I wished for, sweet one." Isa't Isa said while dancing. "But before that let me tell you a tale. Once upon a time, there lived a girl. Her father wanted to marry her away but she desired to see the world. A sweet creature was in love with the girl. When the girl asked for help, the creature without a second thought, helped her. The creature sold his beautiful voice to a fairy in an exchange for magic." She looked at Ginawa Para watching his shocked face. "The girl made the wish to see the world and lived a happily ever after while the creature lived alone with a  little less happily ever after. Does the story remind you of someone, sweet one?"

Ginawa Para nodded sadly. He thought this was it, this was going to be his a little less happily ever after until she felt Isa't Isa kissing his lips.

"You shall speak, sweet one." She said.

"What happened, merry one. Did the charm not worked?" He asked getting his voice back.

"It could be us, sweet one. The girl and the creature, have I not loved you more than my dream. I wished upon the charm, dear friend. I wished for you to become my world. I love you Ginawa Para and I always will for you make me happy more than any dream of mine. I wish for us to be together, forever." The bride proposed his groom.

They made the wish with a promising kiss and got married; living a happily ever after........

I often asked myself. What made us hate each other?

The answer Came -
WORDS.

People say things which made us hate each other.

Then I thought. what made us love?

The answer never came.

Why?

Because-

Love Is not about a Me,
It is about a Us.
