Once upon a time.....

Love was walking over the grassy land and whistling to himself, happy and jolly. He loved everything, the grass, the clouds, the air, the music, everything and sometimes in that daydreaming of his, he would go deep into the woods and get lost.

On one fine evening, Love roamed the woods and got lost. He called for help, as usual. He saw a silhouette and sighed relaxing until he saw the figure. It was Hate. He gasped in fear watching Hate.

“W-What are you doing here?” He stuttered.

“I was wondering the same, cutie.” Hate said. Love blushed dark pink at the nickname.

“I am Love, not c-cutie.” He said trying to act bravely remembering that love is supposed to be brave.

“I know that, cutie. I believe you are not lost, are you?” Hate questioned innocently.

“Nope.” Love pouted lying. He gasped when he remembered that love isn't supposed to lie. “I mean yes.”

“Yes or No. Say one thing, cutie. You are confusing me.” Hate teased.

“I-I am lost.” Love said defeated. He tried to put a brave front but he felt defeated. He was embarrassed because love wasn’t meant to defeat.

Love means to win, does it really?

“You really are lost.” Hate concluded. “Let me show you the way home.” Hate smiled.

Love nodded, still defeated and together they began walking.

“You are different.” Love started.  "They say Hate is mean and cunning. You smile, Hate isn't supposed to smile. Right?” Love asked innocently and once again Hate smiled.

“They say a lot of things, cutie. They say Love can’t hate and you cutie, definitely hate me.” Hate said. Hate was wise and ....different, as Love had said earlier.

“I-I don’t hate you.” Love said blushing.

“Oh!  So you love me?” Hate teased Love, again and Love gasped for Love wasn’t supposed to love ‘Hate’. Such confusing term, ‘Love loving Hate’ but funny enough to make you smile.

“Umm...I can’t. We aren't supposed to love each other but-but I don’t hate you.” Love finished fastly.

“Well, that makes the two of us. I am also not supposed to love you.” Hate sighed. “Alas! We reached the town. Leave you may, cutie.” Hate smiled.

Love wasn’t happy. He was supposed to be happy. Love is always happy but for some reason, he wasn’t.

“I am not happy.” Love stated. Remember, love never lies.

“Why so, cutie?” Hate asked curiously.

“I don’t know. I can’t love you but isn’t Love supposed to love everyone?” Love asked confused. “I  don’t hate you but I can’t love you and I don’t like it.” Love was too innocent for his own good.

“I have an idea.” Hate said softly. “I can’t love you and you don’t hate me but we both like each other, right?” Hate pointed out.

Love hesitated but he liked the idea too much to say no.

“I guess, I like you.” He whispered as if it was a secret. Love liking Hate, definitely a statement to be frown upon.

“Well, that settles it. I like you too, cutie.” Hate announced.

“Friends? For friends like each other.” Hate proposed wisely.

“Friends.” Love agreed shyly.

Hold on sweethearts, for This is the beginning. After all, we all have to start at some place even if it’s slightly awkward.

Hang on tight, for the ride is bumpy.

We all had an unchanging idea or characteristics of love and hate and I am not questioning them. No, never in my right mind I would do that.

But I ask you this one thing – can love really exist without hate?
