(THEN, Kylie minogue gets lodged in my head. . . .)
( then adds the song on the side because I'm cool like that ... LOL ! )
If you ever find yourself stuck for settings in your story, jump over to google maps. It's a dream. You type in anywhere, you can see streets, countryside, forests, lakes, anywhere where the road goes. So it's good for when your story involves travelling.
There's even the quick way. You go to google images.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE GOOGLE. IT'S JUST THAT MY COMPUTER HAS GOOGLE CHROME AND I USE IT.

I find that when you have the need to create characters, you find more inspiration from people you know than anyone else. Basically, walk down to a supermarket, grocery store, the high street. Then you see lots of people, and basically, sometimes you can take inspiration from that.
Even the way they seem can help, like you can give them their own personality and identity. I did this a while back and this man who was with this awesome Texan accent gave me inspiration to just be another character in my story. So there. It's not copyrighted. People can't be copyrighted!
XD HAHA!

Also, I must add, that wikipedia. If you type in a place or a historical event or just an event or so on. You can get inspiration from that. I wrote a story after looking up a type of blade once and the whole story behind lycans and etc.
Actually, it's educational too. If you want a unique character, you can just find a type of disease that effect you physically and there, your characters different. Like a certain blindness, or skin disorder.
I DON'T KNOW! AS LONG AS YOUR NOT OFFENSIVE TOWARDS THAT CHARACTER IT'S COOL! IT'S TOTALLY COOL!

Your own journeys can help. I wrote the start of can an angel die? Whilst on a train, travelling to a Katy Perry concert. I was distracted, why it popped up then whilst travelling, no idea. But it's good so far I guess. I'm happy for that. WOOO! Gonna dedicate chapter 1 to her now ;) lol !!!!
See TAKE CELEBRITY INSPIRATION! EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T! JUST USE IT IT'S A GOOD IDEA!
DONE IT!
Now on with this work!

Television, movies. NO ! You can't steal the storyline, or dialogue. THAT'S ACTUALLY COPYRIGHTED... Or sometimes is!
Yet, character descriptions, small parts like, scenes and characters, or even ways of describing deaths , kisses, the naughty ;) or even torture and murder. You always get a certain feel with movies, you can transfer that feeling into your writing.
:D YAY MORE HELP!
