I havent even slept for five hours when the ground began shaking.
I was forced to open my eyes, but it seems it was just Clarrise from the Ares cabin. I tried to go back to sleep, but the thundering steps drive me crazy. Annabeth was cursing beside me, as if she has been experiencing it everyday. I sympathize with her.
"Curse him for his loud children!" Annabeth hissed, quickly getting up. I sat up, looking at her.
"Can't we just magically fix the bed?" I asked, jumping off and fastening the strap of a knife on my waist.
"No. Let's leave it. Percy's on duty today. Checking cabin "hygiene" and stuff," she laughed softly, "he knows nothing about it anyway."

"That was some alarm clock," Annabeth said beside me. And having been permitted to sit wherever we wish, Percy Jackson-- beside her-- was nodding in agreement.
"I heard the biggest thunderclaps possible," He said with a shake of the head.
I smiled at that lovely response. My chauvinism seems to vanish for a while. One of the many probable things why men steer away from me as often as possible.
We talked a lot, and I was careful not to stare hard too much, or go quiet all of the sudden. It was refreshing; to know the world better. I had locked myself up in New Rome for so long I had forgotten how it felt to know strange things. Well, not until Percy Jackson showed up. He was strange enough.
There was something wonderful in the way these Greek demigods roam around so freely, with no rules to restrict them. I was about to laugh at Percy's unintentional joke when a gale came and violently rustled the trees.
The sound was deafening, like a bullet that kept passing by your ears; like piercing whispers of ghosts.
Annabeth was shaking me awake from a peculiar trance, which was unusual of me. Many were shouting commands and random curses.
"What time is it?" she asked, as if she recited it from a tv show. "It's Monster-slashin' time!"
"Yes, yes." I said, getting up and snatching a bread to stuff in my mouth. The two of us ran out of the Hall, sprinting toward the tree with the Golden Fleece (which reminds me of Jason Grace), guarded by an outraged dragon. It seems that the enemies are trying to take away the fleece.
"I caught a glimpse of them," Annabeth shouted so I could hear. "It's Stellio."
A demigod flew above us, shrieking.
"And?" I asked, pulling a sword stuck to the ground.
"Well, I think it's Eresicthon," she answered back, snatching the dagger from her belt. I had no idea who they are, so there's really no point in asking.
"How did you know?" I asked. She answered that she saw it in a sort of vision.
As soon as we crossed the border, monsters flooded us. I slashed through their ranks and advanced with Annabeth in tow. When the monsters gradually decreased in number, a shadow loomed over me.
"Watch out!" someone yelled. A blast of water pushed me aside as a creature tried to crush me underneath. There is no mistaking it was Percy Jackson.
When I looked up, a little fazed, a giant lizard was staring at me. It laughed, and it wasn't really unusual when you're a demigod.
"I smell Roman. Perfect for breakfast." The thing lunged at me. I rolled to one side and twisted on my heel, slashing at the lizard. While darting around and defending myself, I looked for an opening. Annabeth and Percy had the monster distracted for a while. Its tail whipped from side to side, and as it moved towards me, I jumped and grabbed it, running across his body. I grasped the hilt of the sword with two hands. Raising it above me, I struggled to gain balance.
