It surprised Lucas, when Bethany snapped at him on Wednesday morning. He just asked her to make a few extra stops. She had the whole day off. He typically worked six days a week while she worked four. She was still upset later when she used the headache card. More and more she'd been having an excuse. Hopefully she wouldn't eat too much on Friday night, because he wanted her.

True she'd been busy with the gala, but he truly appreciated her efforts. He couldn't pull off the gala without her. After their rocky first meeting, she learned to work with Oliver. They were spending a lot of time together. It was a problem because he suspected that she had one foot out the door. He was afraid Oliver may swoop in to take his place. Oliver didn't have much to offer aside from being close to her age, but then he remembered the whole baby thing. She wanted a crying, demanding baby that would ruin her body and turn her into a frump like his sister-in-law, Joanna.

He'd been feeling her pull away for weeks, maybe longer. It occurred to him he could keep her longer, if she thought he was changing his mind. He had a plan that included sending Oliver a message tonight.

On Friday night in the elevator, she asked where they were going to dinner. "Our new favorite restaurant."

"You mean yours. We'll be there tomorrow." She complained.

"We need to support Oliver for what he's doing for us."

"Booking a table on a Friday night is not the answer. Having dinner on a slow night would benefit them better,"

Lucas didn't respond, because she was suddenly standing up for Oliver. Shortly after they were seated, Oliver came out to greet them and apparently to tease Bethany. She liked to order what wasn't on the menu, but not that time.

"I'll be picking up my snowflakes early tomorrow."

"I can fill my car too."

As he spoke, the arrival of a large group distracted him. Excusing himself, he went to greet them with hugs and handshakes.

Beth said, "His family has arrived."
