Chapter 1

Just then, I began to see Merlin, my younger twin brother, who I hadn't seen in nearly three years. He was kneeling on the ground in the woods and was dying. I could see he was tied up and needed my help. At first I thought it was a dream but after some time I realized what it really was... a vision.

All of a sudden, I awoke after seeing Merlin in pain. I immediately got up and rushed to Kilgharrah, who was sitting at the edge of the mountain before I said...

"Can you feel him?" I asked him, referring to Merlin.

"Yes. After your brother became The Dragonlord, I can always feel him. The connection between a dragon and a Dragonlord is very strong and you would have had it but it passes from father to son so you don't," Kilgharrah answered.

"I need you to take me to him. He needs to be saved," I said.

"Yes young witch," Kilgharrah said before letting me climb on his back.

I then began to hold on tight before Kilgharrah started to fly across the sky as I began to see everything around me. I saw the mountains that I had lived in for some years and several trees that made a large forest. The forest was all across the ground and I began to enjoy the night sky mixed with this wonderful sight. The air was not cold however not warm; it was perfect. I had gotten used to the breeze from the outside after years of living in the mountains and so I never worried about getting cold. I continued to enjoy every moment of the flight before Kilgharrah finally began to slow down and head down towards the ground, landing in the middle of the forest.

Once he stopped, I immediately climbed off him and spotted my brother Merlin before I rushed to his side and attempted to wake him...

"Merlin? Merlin wake up, it's me, Savannah," I said, attempting to wake him.

He gave no answer and I immediately moved out of the way and said...

"Kilgharrah, pick my brother up. We need to take him home with us," I said as I climbed back onto Kilgharrah and awaited for him to pick Merlin up.

I then watched as Kilgharrah listened to me and picked Merlin up before we flew all the way back to the mountains, ready for us to heal Merlin.

Arriving back at the mountains, Kilgharrah instantly placed Merlin on the ground and let me climb off his back. After doing this, he immediately gave Merlin and enchantment with my help and began to heal him. Once we finished, we both let Merlin rest while we both sat there waiting for him to wake up. As I sat there, I began to watch over him, remembering everything we had been through together and the last time I saw him. I remembered his laugh and the way he made me happy just by a smile on his face. Merlin was my brother and my brother meant everything to me. He was one of the only family members I had in this world and one of the only people who ever understood me as we both shared the ability of magic. I had missed him so dearly and I was glad to just see him again. I wasn't surprised that he was in this position as he was always getting in trouble but it did make me wonder what he did this time to get himself in this situation.

Just then, I began to see Merlin's hand begin to twitch. I began to focus on that for a while as I instantly knew that he was going to awake before I began to move towards him and his body and eyes began to move. Suddenly, his eyes opened and I immediately moved next to him.

"Merlin," I called as I sat beside him.

"Savannah! Oh my god! How are you here?" Merlin asked, sounding very shocked and excited to see me at the same time.

"Shh now. Just rest. I'll explain everything all in good time. The point is, I'm here now and I'm not leaving you," I said.

"I just can't believe you're here," Merlin said before we embraced.

"I know. I missed you too," I said as we embraced.

After a long moment of us embracing, we finally let go of one another and Merlin immediately spotted Kilgharrah and said...

"I didn't think you'd answer my call," Merlin said to him.

"Merlin. I could not resist a Dragonlord, even if I wanted to. Besides that, your sister made it clear we were going to rescue you," Kilgharrah said.

"I'm grateful, thank you," Merlin said.

Merlin then attempted to get up before I said...

"Lie still," I said.

"My head," Merlin said.

"The Serket's poison is powerful. We have given you an enchantment that will help you heal, but it will take time," Kilgharrah said.

"Rest brother," I said.

Merlin then began to lie down and rest, healing his body up and helping him feel a lot better. As he laid down, I let his head lie upon my lap before he drifted in a deep sleep...
