Loud swinging music roared through the entire building. People danced as if the world was going to end and they wouldn't have a chance to do it again. It excited Marilyn to see people going crazy over, well really, nothing at all. For the first time a genuine smile made its way onto her face. "Oh, Jimmy," she cooed, wide eyed, grabbing onto his arm, "It's wonderful." Marilyn watched as people swung around the dance floor while others watched or drank, chatting some. Jimmy grabbed Marilyn's hand. "Well come on," he smiled, "We didn't just come here to watch." He pulled her to the bar and ordered them drinks. Marilyn's blue eyes still examined the place and she couldn't get rid of the smile on her face. Suddenly a man approached Jimmy. "You made it!" the man smiled and patted Jimmy on the back. It was none other than his friend Perry. "Well when do I ever miss the chance to have fun?" Jimmy teased. Perry let out a laugh and soon his eyes recognized that the woman with his friend was Marilyn Monroe herself. "You brought a guest." Perry pointed out and Marilyn smiled shyly. "Perry, right?" she held out her hand for him to take, "I remember you." Of course with Perry and Jimmy being best friends, Marilyn had met him a couple of times before she struck fame. Perry took her hand and shook it. "And who could forget you," Perry said, "You're on every magazine cover." Marilyn chuckled a bit at his playful words. The bartender set down their drinks and Marilyn picked hers up taking a sip from the glass. "Everyone looks so fun!" she exclaimed excitedly as she watched people dance. Jimmy picked up his drink and turned around to look at the crowd also. "Should we join them?" he asked, turning to Marilyn. Her eyes grew wide and somehow her smile grew even more wide. "Oh, can we?!" Jimmy laughed softly, practically adoring the star. He took her drink from her hand and set both of their drinks back onto the bar table. "Excuse us, Perry." Jimmy said and took Marilyn by the hand, leading her to the dance floor or wild dancers. Marilyn had forgotten just how fun dancing was. Especially dancing in a club with people who were free spirited and not so rich and snooty. Within those few minutes, Marilyn was having the time of her life. She hadn't had this much fun in years. She felt free and careless as Jimmy twirled her around, dancing with her like nothing else mattered but that moment.
Perry watched them for a few seconds, a bit skeptical of the situation but instead of looking too deep into it, he ordered a drink and found a girl of his own to chat up at the bar. When the song ended, Marilyn was slightly tired. Not having danced in so long she seemed already breathless but was quick to pull Jimmy in again for another dance when another song began to play. "Hey," Perry could here someone say, "Is that Marilyn Monroe?"
"Nah," another replied, "Couldn't be. Why would someone as famous as her come to a place like this?"
"Well it sure looks like her. A lot like her."
"Every girl practically wants to be her. Could just be some imposter trying to get attention."
"Who knows?"
"Well I bet people would pay big money to see Marilyn Monroe dancing around at some club."
The two laughed to each other.
After the song ended once again, Marilyn raced off of the dance floor and back to the bar laughing with Jimmy who followed close behind. Perry turned to the two as they picked up their drinks and drank from them. "Hey," Perry said to Marilyn, "People are starting to get onto you, you know?" Marilyn shrugged carelessly. "Oh, who cares?" She rolled her eyes and giggled, "No ones bothering me and I'm not bothering them. Everyone's having fun, right, Jimmy?" Jimmy slapped back his drink and laughed. "Right!" he agreed. The both were clearly buzzed from drinking at the restaurant and then drinking there at the club. Marilyn finished her drink and ordered another. "I want to dance again!" she said before chugging down her new drink. "You go ahead," Jimmy told her, "I'm gonna get another drink." Marilyn smiled, "Okay but you owe me another dance later!"
