Chapter 5: Daisy Chains

ϟ ϟ ϟ

It had been almost a week since Delilah woke up and she was still trying to get used to the Weasley household. It was a difficult change for her, one for the better, but still hard. Delilah was so used to a quiet house with only 3 people living in it. She always made her own meals and kept to herself in her room, only her brother for company.

So an overwhelmed Delilah decided she needed some alone time. After lunch she adventured out across from the Burrow to a hill that overlooked a field.

Delilah sat on the hill, closed her eyes and breathed in the fresh air, she lied down soaking in the sun. She looked to the left and peaked one eye open. Delilah was ecstatic to see a daisy next to her.

The now smiling girl sat up and plucked her favorite flower from the ground. Delilah looked around and saw many more daisies surrounding her.

She stood and started to collect them. When she felt like she had a reasonable amount she returned to her original spot. Delilah grabbed two of the daisies and started to weave them together.

"I'm bored!" complained Fred. The Weasley children (excluding Percy) and Jacob all sat in the living room. Groaning about boredom and taking turns playing exploding snap.

"Yeah me too, we've playing this game forever." Ginny added very dramatically and the rest of the bunch nodded their heads in agreement.

"Why don't we go outside and play quidditch," Jacob gazed out the window at the clear blue sky, "It's a pretty day."

"You always want to play quidditch!" Ron whined

George threw a pillow at his younger brother hitting him in the face. "Give the guy a break, he only discovered it like a week ago."

They all agreed on Quidditch, Ron grumbled and followed them out the door.

They all started to walk over to the broom shed. Ginny stopped in her tracks when she saw a lonely looking Delilah on a hill.

"Hey, we should get Delilah to play with us," Ginny pointed out the girl on the hill and they boys glanced over.

"Yeah but it has to be one of you three to ask her" Jacob said looking pointedly at Ron, George, and Fred.

Ron turned to Jacob looking accusingly at him, "Wait! Why one of us? She is much more comfortable with you or Ginny."

"I'm her brother, I am required to ask her so she'll say no. Delilah doesn't want to be the annoying younger sister that hangs out with my friends." Jacob explained and the three Weasley boys all looked at Ginny accusingly.

She looked over at them kind of hurt and glared, "First of all I am a delight to have around and you all know it! Second, I am one of the only people she has talked to since she arrived, other than Mum. She would feel less like a burden if someone new went and asked her."
