Thing's have been running smoothly this past month, the new fence is up, construction on the new barn is half complete, the guest house's and main house have been renovated. So thing's are coming along rather nicely.

I hired two new ranch hands one of whom is Derek's uncle and has shown to be a very good asset. Derek is settling into his new position as the ranch foreman, most of the time I just leave my office to get some fresh air or to go to the resort. Ally is also setting into her new role as my assistant.

Dad started his campaign two week's ago to run for sheriff and Uncle Chris is going to join him at the department when he gets in.  Dad is still here piddling around until then. I finally told my grandfather enough was enough at the family barbecue two weeks ago, I couldn't take it anymore.

He asked why would I throw my life away on that shit hole ranch and I told him that shit hole has belonged to me since day one and before I left I said I had bet someone and was falling in love and that his money nor bitterness had no room in my life and dreams.

He disowned me, took me out of the will and banned me from his home. I wasn't having any sleepless nights that's how much I don't give a damn. Derek moved into the main house in the last room on the third floor a crossed from mine, he only has his clothes in there we share a bed every night, only to sleep we haven't gone that far yet you perverts.

Thinking about Derek makes me smile, "What's that smile for?" my dad's voice brings me back to the now, I look up at him standing in my door-way. "Oh you know just happy things," I say, he smiles and nods in understanding.

"Hey sweetheart, come and meet our new client, she'll be taking riding lesson's from Kali." He says and I get up and follow him out, I see a young dark skin woman talking to Kali, you can clearly see how beautiful she is from here and how spoiled she was.

"Braden, I'd like you to meet my daughter Adelyn, she owns and runs this place, if you have any concerns or questions, she's the one to speak with," dad introduces me to her. "Hello, it's a pleasure, please call me Ady," I say and shake her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you," She responds.

"Kali is one of our best riding instructors, you'll be in good hands with her," I say smiling at Kali, "Please Ady, I'm nothing compared to the number on instruction on the ranch." she laughs, "Oh, whose number one?" Braden asked, "Ady here, she trained me and many other's and several of her students placed first in rodeo's a crossed the state myself included, she was ranked number on instruction three years in a row." Kali brags on me, my cheeks turn a slight pink, I hate attention.

"Oh, that's amazing, why don't you teach anymore?" Braden asked. "Well I went to college four years ago and just got back home a little over a month ago, so now I run my ranch since I'm old enough and have a bachelors in business," I say and then we are interrupted by Derek.

"Pardon me, Ady we need you in the field, one of the mares has gone into labor and she's having trouble," he says, "I'll be right there, grab my bag from my office and  and I'll be right behind you," I say, he nods and races off.

"Oh my that's one fine piece of man," Braden says, I ignore her comment and say, "It was a pleasure meeting you, but I'm afraid that I need to go," "Won't you need a vet?" she asked. "No, I'm a vet too," I say and head off, but not before I hear her tell Kali that she would like to get her hands on Derek.

Two hours later we have a healthy little foal, mom and baby are doing well. "So Ady how was delivering your first foal?" dad asked as I made it back to my office, I chuckle, "Dad, I've been a vet for two years, this isn't my first," he chuckles in amusement. "I know, but this was a first of your own heard." He says.
