When His Past Catch's Up

It's the first week of August and we are packing up for a week-long vacation at the resort. I hired two friends from school who rolled back into town a couple weeks ago and were looking for work. 

So, Ethan, Aiden, and Peter will be here to feed animals and to make sure nothing goes wrong. We canceled all riding lesson's for the week as well, our trainers are looking forward to a week-long stay with their families and from what I hear Enis asked Kali to go to the Bahamas for the week with him and they left out last night.

I'm currently on the porch going over everything with Peter and the twins for the hundredth time. "Boss lady, we can handle it, go relax don't worry about it, you worry too much." Peter insists they can handle it all.

"But!!" I start, "No buts, we know this place is your life and we will take care of it, promise" Ethan reassures me, him I believe.  I'm about to head back to the house when a car I don't recognize pull's up to the house.

It takes no time for the driver to jump out and squeal like a pig, "Derek Hale, there you are! I didn't think I would ever find you!" she shrills and comes up the porch and stops at the top of the steps.

"And you are?" I asked curiously, "Oh where are my manners, name's Katie-Beth, I'm Derek's fiancee, and you?" she asked, I swallow hard and take her hand in mine, "Adelyn Stilinski, Derek's boss." I say through grit teeth. 

"Oh my gosh, I know you, the rodeo queen of the south, beautiful place you got here." says looking around, "Thanks, um are you staying in town awhile?" I ask, "Yeah for about a week, I've got to head back into town to get a room at the motel." She says and I open mouth and put my foot in it.

"Nonsense you can stay with Derek in the guest house where he lives," I say, my dad catches the tone of my voice and starts to look nervous. "Oh thank you so much." she shrieks, "not a problem, just have Derek show you there," I say and everyone then catches the way I have said his name and they all look worried. I then excuse myself into the house and avoid looking at Derek.

"Vacation is off," I say and head to the kitchen. "Ady, you're not running off to the cabin are you?" Lydia asks from behind me. "No Lydia, I no longer have an escape since my traitor dog showed Derek how to get out there," I say and my dad comes in from the living room.

"Ady honey you okay?" he asked, I shut the back door because I'm about to blow a head gasket. "OKAY? AM I OKAY? I am far from okay dad he has a fiancee when the hell was he planning on telling me? I'm the other woman dad, I feel so dirty!" I yell in frustration, "Did you know about this?" I ask my family, they all shake their heads and I huff in frustration. 

"I'm going to my office." I say getting up and heading out the back door. Derek is standing at the barn doors as I walk up, I roll my eyes and walk by. "Ady, please let me explain." he says, "What's there to explain Derek you have a fiancee when were you planning on telling me?" I asked unlocking my office door, I turn to look at him, he is silently looking at the ground. 

I chuckle humorlessly, "Oh, I see you were never going to  tell me, I should never have gotten involved with you, hell and the way it looks now you with Braden last month makes a whole lot of sense, I was the sorry little farm girl you pitted." I say stepping into my office. 

"Ady that's not true, I do love you," He says, "Save it, Derek, no you don't, I've got things to do now," I say and shut my office door and lock it before he responds. I've got to get out of here, but how? I think to myself. Then there is a knock on my office door.

"Ady, it's me and Stiles can we come in?" Ally's voice comes through my door. Sighing I get up and unlock it, they come in and I shut and lock the door behind them and go back to my desk, I file some invoices just to act like I'm busy.

It's quiet for about thirty minutes when I finally get annoyed, "Is there a reason you two are here?" I ask them. "We just want to make sure you're not leaving." Stiles says, "Where the hell am I going to go, Stiles? My secret cabin getaway is no longer a secret, I've got no way to get out of the hell that is going on in my head, because the one guy I trusted to be different actually wasn't, the guy I fell in love with turned out to be just like the other's." I say and feel the tear's stream down my face.

"I'm sorry Ady." Ally say's. I wipe my face and check the time, "Just forget it, it's supper time so let's get back to the house." I say getting up and heading for the door. I let Ally and Stiles go before me and I follow shutting the door and locking it.

Ally links her arm in mine and we make our way to the house. "It's a shame we had to cancel our vacation." Ally says, "Yeah well I don't feel like going on vacation right now," I say and then get an idea. I'll go to the resort, no one will think to look out there and if they do I can get the staff to say I'm not there which is perfect. I smile slightly at the thought as it runs through my brain.

Dinner goes by in silence it's only my family and the twins, I guess Derek knew better than to show his face in this house. I excused myself to my room and shut the door, locking it as soon as it's shut. I quickly text Isaac and tell him to pick me up from the house in an hour, then I quickly pack a duffel bag and listen for everyone to go to bed.

At fifteen til, I sneak out of my room and down the back steps. I go out the back door and slide into Isaac's passenger seat. "Hey darlin, Stiles called earlier to tell me what happened." he says, "Yeah, it blows, please take me to the resort and please do not tell a soul," I say, he puts the car in reverse and then into drive. 

"AdyBell, you are my oldest friend, your secret is safe with me." he say's, "thanks Isaac," I say and the rest of the ride is silent. Forty-five minutes later he parks in front of the resort. "You sure you're going to be ok?" He asked just before I get out.

"Yeah, I'll be okay Isaac, I just need some time okay!" I say, "Okay, sweetness" I hug him and get out of the car and go inside the resort. "Ady, what are you doing here? Your dad called and told us you were canceling." Malia is shocked by my appearance in the resort.

"Come to my office and I'll explain everything," I say passing the registration desk and heading to my office with her in tow.
