Three weeks have passed and we are still here at the resort, Ally, Dad, Stiles, and everyone talked me into staying until the last week of August. I was against it, but everyone made a point that August is our slow month of the summer and we all weren't needed back at the ranch. It was Kali and Enis that finally convinced me.
They both know the in's and out's of the ranch as good as me and dad, they know the books so I caved and it was the best decision of my life. Mine and Derek's relationship has gotten stronger now that we have had time to focus on us. We aired out our demons and now there is nothing that will deter our path.
I am currently positioned on the front porch of the cabin, rocking quietly in the glider coffee in hand. I smile at the thought that crossed my mind of these last three weeks. We ran into Katie-Beth and her fiance Dean, well I should say husband now. The day after she showed up on the ranch her and Dean went to the courthouse and got married.
Her mother is a bitter woman and out to make anyone around her unhappy, so they decided enough was enough and got married. They spent a week here at the resort complements from the owner. They decided to go back to Birmingham and pack up then move here. Katie-Beth has a degree in cosmetology and is going to open her own salon here in town, I told her if she did I wouldn't mind being a silent partner just to help here her off the ground and running. She was thrilled. Dean is a very successful pro-rodeo manager and he can be anywhere and work.
Lydia had a filled us in on the little secret she had been hiding for the past couple of months, she and Stiles are expecting a baby in February. To say we are over the moon was an understatement. Stiles and I got wasted and nearly drowned each other in the lake until dad and Derek drug us out.
I threw up so much that night that I thought I was going to die, but Derek was there every time holding my hair away from my face or just holding me while I laid on the cold bathroom floor. He told me the next morning after I apologized a thousand times that he would be there any time and anywhere.
He said he loved me no matter what and we made love that morning. It was the second time in our relationship that we had been intimate and I decided then and there that I would shorten hours spent out on the ranch so we could have time for us.
"What's that cheeky smile for?" Stiles voice brought me back to the present, "Oh ya know just thinking about these last few weeks being here." I said and sipped my coffee."Oh yeah? And I say by the look on your face that you've decided something am I right?" he asked.
"Yeah, Stiles I have," I say, he comes over to me and sits next to me. "Well" he prods, "I've decided to shorten the hours at the ranch so we can be ourselves, so we can have families and lives," I say.
"Really Ady?" An excited voice comes from the door, I looked up to see Ally, my dad, Derek and Lydia standing in the doorway. "Yeah, I'm serious," I say, the girl's squeal and run over to me giving me a hug then run back in to tell Scott who was still in bed.
Dad and Derek come over, dad sits in the rocker on the other side of me and Derek kneels down in front of me taking my hands in his. "Ady, are you sure this is what you want?" he asked, if he was hopeful or happy it was hidden, his expression was nothing, but curiosity.
"Yeah Derek I'm sure, we are still young and I had poured way too much of myself into the ranch that I lost sight of what life was really about, living, loving, having families, going on vacations and just enjoying life," I tell him, his smile grows,
"You have no idea how happy that makes me Ady, this new plan opens up a lot of things that I would love to plan and experience with you starting with one thing first." He says, "Oh yeah and what would that be?" I ask. He put his hand in his pocket and pulls out a small square box, my breath catches in my throat when I realize what kind of box it is.
"Adelyn, we've been together only a short time, but there isn't a doubt in my mind about wanting to spend the rest of my life with you, we've had some bumps in the road, but we've worked through them, we both have had hard past's, and I know together we can conquer anything. I love you Adelyn Renee Stilinski more than life itself and I would love more than anything if you would be my wife, so will you marry me?" He takes my breath away.
"Yes, Derek, yes I will marry you," I say. He slides a beautiful horseshoe diamond ring on my finger, "It's a horseshoe" I say surprised, "yeah it is, when I saw it, it just screamed you, do you like it?" Derek asked. "I love it, it's perfect," I say and pull him close and place my lips on his.
This indeed was the most perfect summer in my entire life. I have a ranch I love, my dad and brother whom I love dearly and couldn't have, made it without, two best friends one being family, who keep me grounded and then the most perfect man on the planet Derek Hale.
He awoke something in me that I thought died along with my mother, but indeed it hadn't. Everything is falling into place and I couldn't be happier. Derek's lips to mine his ring on my finger proves it. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
