Penny's PoV.

It finally ended. The date and my suffering. The most depressing two hours of my life, aside from those I spent yesterday, when I was feeling absolutely hopeless.

"Kayla, no more emo boys, okay?" I commented, wanting to rest my forehead on her shoulder, but she stopped me. "Oh no, Penn, no way in hell I'm letting you smear your contour and concealer on my, jacket." She said sternly. No kidding, huh. I changed the angle of my face and leaned the side of my head on her shoulder instead.

"But 'kay, no more emo boys. You have another date tomorrow, but you're done for today." She added. I did a 'yay' with all the energy I had left, which wasn't a lot. I just wanted to put on some musical and plop myself down on the couch. That sounded like a great plan.

The plan that actually came to life, and I was glad for that. I put on Grease, while Kayla made us some coffee and opened a pack of chocolate chip cookies. The perfect way to spend an evening, chilling with my best friend.

We enacted all the songs. Kayla was John Travolta and I got to be Olivia Newton-John. I was grateful that Uncle Gadget went with Brain on walks to HQ every Friday afternoon. I would sometimes join them, but I much preferred to stay here this time.

The song 'Hopelessly Devoted to You'  came on and I got to sing it all by myself, with Kay chiming in at the choruses. I couldn't get it out my mind how much Talon reminded me of young John Travolta, or how young John Travolta reminded me of Talon. Either way that would make me Olivia Newton-John, and we are far too different from each other aside from the eye and hair colour.

The rest of the movie went by in a flash and we sang the last song 'You're the One that I Want' together in a duet. After that the credits rolled on and I turned to my bestie. "Would it be weird if I became a MAD agent?" I asked her without any emotion.

"And Talon would become a HQ agent and then you wouldn't be able to be together again?" She responded, still looking at the credits. I looked over to the table, we cleared out the whole pack of cookies. "Right." I agreed with her.

"You're not in a movie, and it's not just your clothes that make you two on different sides, it's the mindset." She followed up. She's probably right on that too. Though Talon, mentioned himself a few times how he thought his uncle's plans were ridiculous, and I managed to knock some sense into him if they really were just too obscure. Like the 'eradicate all plants on Earth' plan. That one was just undeniably stupid.

I woke up from the rainforest into my living room, sitting on the couch. I looked over to the table, no trace of the empty box or even the two coffee stained mugs. I looked behind me to spot Kayla putting the mugs in the dishwasher. "Thanks, Kay." I thanked her. "No prob, Penn. Anyway, so let me tell you the scoop on the guy you're meeting tomorrow." She blabber on, and was about to continue if the front door opening didn't interrupt her.

"Hi Penny, hello Kayla. It is unhealthy to sit all day you know. You should do some jumping jacks instead!" He exclaimed and started doing jumping jacks right in front of the door that Brain closed just a second earlier.

"Uh, OK, Uncle Gadget. We're going to go... Stretch! In my room." I excused and flashed him a nervous smile, while pushing Kayla towards my dorm room.

"Thanks for saving my ass, P. The trainings at HQ are bad enough as they are." It was her turn to thank me this time. After her comment, we bursted out laughing. "True they can be if I put Talon on eight times the power." I added, and caught myself before my thoughts could wander.

"Okay, so before I was so rudely interrupted I was going to tell you about the guy you're meeting tomorrow." She started, a smile never fading from her face as she said that in a giddy voice. "So he's handsome, strong and handsome. He's got tan skin, dark blonde hair and grey eyes. I met him on that beach outing you were supposed to join, but you got caught in a MAD tunnel or something." She rambled. "Kay." I reminded her. "Oh, yeah, well, Mike is like the perfect guy for you. I mean, I would keep him for myself, but I kinda hit it off with one of his friends and I don't want to get between a guy and his homies, you know. So what I was saying is that he is like one of the most attractive human beings walking on planet Earth." She ended. She sounded really excited about him she didn't do the same for my first two dates. So, I guess that guy must be something, huh? I wondered how my next day would go, I could only hope for the best.

*The Next Day*

"Are you sure this is how I am supposed to look?" I asked Jay as I looked at myself in the mirror. I had makeup on again, more 'highlighter' on this time. I had a basic black crop with the same high-waisted light jeans, the same pair as yesterday, on. I threw on a taupe cardigan on too, because it was a bit chilly outside.

"Oh course, girl, you gotta slay with that highlight. I did a grand job on that if I do say so myself." She kept nodding her approvingly, grinning to herself.

"If you say so." I sighed, agreeing on whatever she was talking about. "So that means we can get out of the house now, right?" I waited for a confirm and Kayla nodded excitedly.

We finally exited the building and I was welcomed with a gust of wind. Don't you just love a bit of a spring breeze. I looked at Kayla already walking forward without me.

"Hey, where are we going actually?" I asked after catching up with her. "Starducks, 4 blocks down from here, so we better get going because we don't want to keep him waiting." She responded as she kept walking. "Sure, we don't want to keep him waiting." I sighed as I followed her.

"Okay, we're here." Kay exclaimed as she gestured towards the Starducks sign. "But I don't see Mike anywhere." She added. "Shocker? You turned on your fast walking mode around 10 minutes ago, and we arrived early." I commented, checking my Codex.

"Uh-uh, no checking agent devices on the date." She made me close it. "Kay, he's not even he-" I started but was cut off by Kayla's squeal. "He's here. Okay, I'll leave you guys alone." She said quickly and walked away just as fast as she came to the place.
