---

I rubbed my hands up and down my bare arms, cursing at myself for not thinking to bring my a jacket, knowing I'd be out in the cold all night. I kicked my dangling feet, looking out towards the city where hundreds of lights shone brightly, pushing away all darkness that tried to invade the area. I looked out pass the field, where I knew Angel was, putting everything in motion. I shifted my position on the edge, moving back a bit to not fall off the roof. I closed my eyes, titling my head down as all possible situations for the night started to play out in my mind.

The slam of a door caused me to open my eyes and snap my head up, pulling my attention to the new figure walking towards me. I smile spread across my face as I moved to my feet, pushing myself back from the edge of the two story home. "Elizabeth," I breathed out, moving to meet the beauty in the middle of the roof. "Hurry, hurry." I grasped her smaller hand, pulling her into me for a hug and resting my chin on the top of her head. I held her in my arms for a moment, sharing body heat for warm from the chilly night. A breeze passed through, pulling Elizabeth's hair from her face. Slowly, I disentangled our bodies, giving her a small smile, my light green eyes staring into her brown orbs. I held her gaze for a moment before turning my body, pulling her into my side. "Watch." I whispered in her ear, looking up at the pitch black sky.

For a few moment we just stood there, staring up at the star-filled sky in silence, enjoying the view and the presence of one another. Suddenly, the silence was broken by a loud explosion of sorts, followed immediately by a flow of bright and colorful lights. Small sparks danced in the starry night, illuminating our faces in their shine. They flowed together, moving throughout the sky for long moments before fading out, only to be replaced with more light. Many images moved to cover the scene, from hearts and flowers to old houses and wine bottles. Scenes depicting the most beautiful moments of our lives played out in front of us; our meeting, our first date-even the countless movie nights we shared together. Gold and red lights tangoed in the sky, moving in such a way that could only be described as art. Blues and oranges joined in the dangerous dance, creating an even more beautiful scene.

The sharp and graceful play taking place in front of us caused my heart to swell, a soft smile dancing on my lips as I saw Elizabeth taking it all in, eyes wide with wonder and astonishment. Together, Elizabeth and I watched with awestruck eyes as the lights held their captivating dance high in the sky, showering us in their feelings of serendipity. After a few minutes of the colors streaking all around, the lights and noise started to die down, as if the sky was getting ready for the finale and wanted a clean canvas to paint on.

The few seconds of silence were suddenly interrupted by another series of 'bangs', sounding one after another with no breaks in between. Dozens of pink sparks shot up into the sky, weaving together much like the stitches on a shirt forming a single question. Quickly and without a word, I released Elizabeth's hand, causing her attention to pull away from the sky and to me. Her hands shook greatly, tears threatening to fall out her eyes as all I did was smile before I knelt down, bringing out a small black box from my pocket. Still staring deeply into her eyes, I opened my mouth, asking her the question that was slowly fading out of the sky.

Will you marry me, Elizabeth?
