Chapter 4

"Not trying to run away from me now are you Ruby?"

I turn just in time to catch the cold smirk on Claire's  face.

"What do you want?"

"Oh honey you're not happy to see me?" she's still got that smirk on her face. She walks slowly towards me, the smirk still on her face. Ah! I'd really love to know what's so amusing.
"I really just wanted to say hi.."

"Oh–"

"But not to you..." and the smirk is gone and replaced with a cold glare.
"Where's your friend Kane?"

"I don't have a friend named Kane." Well I wasn't lying.... exactly.

"So kane is not your friend?" she asks

"Nope, I really don't care about him. If you want him, which you Clearly do, you can have him." I reply arms folded. Yeah let's just cut the chase.

"Ouch cupcake..." and out he came. You guessed right. Kane aka Shallow face, hand on his chest and lower lip bent.

"You denied me twice, not cool." If I weren't yunno, myself I'd have actually thought he was genuinely hurt. Ha! As if!

"HI Kane. I'm Claire." Claire reaches out for a handshake and she's got the brightest smile on her face "I've heard a lot about you."

Kane is kind enough to take her hand but doesn't hold it longer than two seconds and of course Claire's smile starts to falter.

"And I've heard nothing about you..." he says with a smile.
"...uhm forget everything she's said..." he says, stopping just in time to glare at me
"....but she got one thing right, I'm not her friend."

"Really?" You could hear the excitement in Claire's voice, you could also almost hear the confetti blast in her head.

"Yeah, totally we're more than friends... we're together."

Now, this right here is the perfect moment for a spit take but unfortunately I'm not  having any drink at the moment, but rest assured I still have the same shocked expression on my face. Yunno the one from the aftermath of a spit take...

"What the hell do you mean?" Nope, that wasn't me. Claire beat me to it.

"Yeah what do you mean?" I ask a wide grinning kane.

"You didn't tell her princess? how you swept me off my feet and how I asked you to be mine and how you hurriedly accepted all teary eyed.." This guy

"You have got to be kidding me" again Claire beat me to it. We've been thinking alike these last few minutes I think it's the cafe food.
"You only just met this morning...."

"And we are together." He looked her straight in the eye, he wasn't smiling anymore he became so... serious, weird.

"Now if you'd excuse my girl and I we've got places to be." And with that being said I was  dragged away from a furious girl yelling something about making him see what he really wants.

"Great, another reason for her to hate me." I turn to face  him releasing my hand from his grasp,

"And that's a problem why?" He asks amused. Amused!!!!!!

"Okay what is actually your problem. You walk in here all  cute and stuff thinking you own the place and you could do whatever the hell it is you want to
"Did you say cute—" he cuts me off  his grin widening

"That's it... Am I a joke to you? Am I a game??"

"Woah calm down princess—"

"Don't call me that! You are the most obnoxious person I've ever met. Cause you're some famous kid who has a famous father with a bunch of famous awards Congratulations but guess who doesn't care? this girl!!!" I scream "Now stay away from me I don't want you around" I finish and storm off

I have last block but I can't stay in this dumphole any longer. I walk into the car park, more like run... and there's no one in sight just cars. I cabt even find Toby's. Sigh! I might as well just walk home I've got a lot to think about anyway.

As I exit the school premises I can't help thinking of what just transpired. The day has been really weird, like how do you go from fighting with someone to becoming their supposed girlfriend. Sigh, I cannot be another game to someone else no!

And Claire why is she out to ruin my life. She's just always there to...

"Hey princess" I turn and sight Kane slowly pulling up next to me. Surprise surprise.

He's in his car which by the way looks so damn expensive. I also don't miss the smile on his face. If this guy wasn't so goddam annoying he would be attractive. But let's focus on the annoying shall we

"What do you want." Arms folded, I stop and he does too. "I thought I told you to leave me alone."

"Well yeah but you see I've never been one to listen." He says with yet another bright smile

Someone, please kill me! I think as I mentally facepalm. What have I gotten myself into?

"Get in let me drop you off" he reaches for the door of the passenger seat and I quickly stop him.

"And please if you don't mind..." I fold my hands and narrow my eyes "....why in the world would I want to do that?"

"Well princess..." And somehow the smile just seemed to widen up. "...just Incase you didn't notice, I am a very adamant person."

Oh wow who would have thought! I roll my eyes. Sigh! I scan the streets there's no one in sight. If there's anything I've learnt from books and movies, it's not a good idea to get in strangers cars. You either end up raped, kidnapped with all your organs sold to some guy in Russia or dead.

"I'd rather walk" I turn and keep walking
"Get in now princess you shouldn't be walking"
"No!" I say increasing my pace
"I'd chase you if I really need to."

And that's when I stop. I turn towards the car he looked pretty serious. I look around, no one in sight. Sigh

"Alright. I give up. You win" I sigh. And with that said turn and run.
