Old payback

A week. A week has gone by since S's death and the agency hasn't found that person who drove the car yet. I thought it would be a better idea to ask X and the gang's help because they could probably find him faster. I didn't see any better idea, so as soon as the morning came, I woke up and went to their hiding spot. When I arrived they were glad to see me, but then I told them everything and why I needed their help in the first place. Of course, I told them that S was my friend and didn't even mention his name or anything about the agency.

"What was the license number of the car?" asked Patrick as he turned to Richard's computer.

"2RDF715," I said and Richard quickly typed it in the searching program.

"I found a car, but it's in the forest," said Richard as he leaned back in his seat giving me space to look at the screen.

"Is there any building near it?" I asked and Richard looked at me, rolling his eyes.

"It's in the middle of the forest."

"I got it, but he probably left the car and walked from there," I stated my point and he only rolled his eyes again with a sigh.

"Hold on," Patrick said as he pushed Rich away from the computer, zooming out of the map. "There is a house, but it looks like it's abandoned."

"Thanks, guys," I said turning around quickly and heading out from the room, but X stopped me as he grabbed onto my upper arm.

"What do you want to do?" he asked, looking into my eyes.

"I'm gonna kill him," I said with anger in my heart because I wanted revenge and now that I finally had the chance to get it nobody could stop me.

"But be careful," he said with a slight smile and let go of me stepping away from the door.

I quickly went home and grabbed my gun from under the bed, which was hidden in a bag from my parents. I put a bulletproof vest on under my jacket, so I could leave the house without making them suspicious. I grabbed my pocket knife too if for some reason I'm gonna use up all my bullets. Although the idea of torturing the person with the knife while they were tied to a chair made me thinking. I felt as my blood boiled from anger and with more determination, I went downstairs. I told my parents that I won't be long and will be back home by lunch, and with a little explanation, they let me go. I left the house with Sam, flying behind me. I jumped up on my bike and headed to the forest. When I got there I turned on a path, going deeper into the forest, but I soon stopped, because I found the car. The sheer sight of the vehicle made me shiver.

"Sam, look around," I said to him and he flew over to the car, looking into it.

He turned around and shook his head because he didn't find anything so I walked closer too. I checked the license plate and the number was correct. As I walked around it I saw splatters of blood on its hood that made me light-headed for a second then pure anger coursed through my body. I nodded and mentioned him to follow me as we continued our way. The satnav said that we were getting closer to the house and soon we found it too.
I hid my bike behind a tree and we went closer to the house, but it seemed it really was abandoned. All the windows were broken, the roof was barely holding up and the whole structure just looked like it would collapse at any time.

"Let's take a closer look," I said to Sam and we headed towards the front door.

I grabbed my gun from the holster and slowly opened the door. It was heavy and creaked loudly, but after the noise the door made, I didn't hear movement coming from inside. So either the person didn't hear us entering or they were long gone. We went in and I looked left where the living room used to be, but now it was just an empty room, the wallpaper slightly tore off of the wall, and dust just covered everything along with tree leaves.

"Okay. Go outside and check the area while I look around in here." I told Sam and after he nodded he flew out through the nearest window.

I went upstairs as quietly as I could since the bottom floor was clear. Once I was upstairs I looked inside the first room, which was the bathroom, but there was nothing in there. I put up my gun to my ears and slowly slid to the next door along the wall. I took a deep breath and quickly jumped out from behind the wall, standing in the doorway. I stepped closer, when I saw a body, lying on the floor near the bed. As I went closer I could see that it was a man facing the other way. I went up to him carefully, but he didn't move. I kneeled down and turned the body over to see the man's face covered with blood and dirt his eyes wide and hollow. I moved his head up a little bit and saw a deep gash on his throat, dried blood around it. He was dead. I search his pockets for an ID card or something with his name on it, but nothing. I took out my phone from my pocket and called Z.

"Yes?" I heard his voice once he picked up.

"Z, it's agent J. I found a dead body in the forest in an abandoned house," I told him in a formal way then walked around the room inspecting every corner and even checked under the bed for a possible murder weapon. "There's nobody else here and I don't even see a weapon. The man is in his mid-forties, with no ID card. Plus I found the car I've been looking for not too far away from here."

"Fine. I send a little help there and they'll bring the body here. Maybe we can find out who he was." he said and I nodded in understanding.

"Right. I'll send the coordinates."

"By the way... Why exactly are you in the forest?" he asked curiously and I took a deep breath. "How could you find the car?"

"To be honest I asked help from the Executioners," I explained and I could hear him gasping on the other side of the phone, so I quickly continued before he could say anything. "I didn't mention the agency or S. I just simply told them that I wanted revenge for a friend of mine's death. That's all."

"As long as they don't suspect anything..." said Z, then I heard him take another deep breath. "Anyway, help is gonna arrive soon. Stay there."

"Alright," I said and I heard as he hung up so I put my phone away.

That was when Sam came back and entered the room through the window. He looked at the body then at me with a questioning look.

"He is dead," I said and he looked back down scanning the body.

He tried to say something, but he hasn't had that ability yet. Maybe I should do something with that. It could be handy after all... although it was pretty hard to program talking, I had to try at least. I don't know why I didn't think about it when we were building him. We waited 20 minutes or so and the agents arrived with M. They took the body and put it in one of the cars while the others secured the place and checked the whole area.

"Are you coming?" M asked me once they were done and ready to head back to the agency.

"No, I'm going home. I told my parents that I just want to take a walk here and I'll go back before lunch."

"Okay. Be careful," he said then signed to the other that they were ready to go.

After they left the area I got on my bike and went straight home with Sam flying behind me. The rest of the day was quite the same as the others. I ate lunch with my parents then I did my homework and studied for the upcoming tests.

It went by until I got a phone call. It was M. They could identify the man and they checked out the fingerprints on the black car's steering wheel. It matched so it was definitely the man who drove the car that day. When I asked for the reason this man would try to kill S, M told me that it was probably because S was the one who caught this criminal and send him to jail. He could manage to escape and he used his time to get his revenge on S. The reason why he died was still unknown, but it was clear that somebody or he himself cut his throat and he bled out.

I put down my phone on the table after I said thank you to M and ended the call then laid on my bed facing the white ceiling. This job is too hard for me. What if I die as well? I'm gonna have enemies through this whole job, who will probably try everything to kill me. I've been thinking about this since I said yes to Z. I knew it was risky and too much for a child like me. Still, I said yes. Why? Do I want to prove something? Or do I want the world to notice me? Or just one person.
