I fell asleep a little bit, but my phone woke me up as it suddenly started to ring. I stood up and went over to my desk grabbing my phone, then looking at the screen. I got a message but it was from an unknown number. Who is this? I opened the message anyway.
'I need your help. Meet me at the park.'
Hmm... That's weird. But there was only one way to find out who this guy was. I had to go to the park and meet them. I grabbed my bag and put my gun in it just in case, then quickly ran downstairs walking around in the living room, then in the dining area.
"Sam? Where are you?" I asked as I was looking for him.
He flew out of the kitchen, followed by my mom and they both looked at me when they saw me putting my shoes on and grabbing my keys.
"We need to go," I said to them and Sam flew over to me.
"Why? And where?" asked my mom worriedly.
"I got a message from someone. They need my help." I said, but I didn't mention that it was from an unknown number because I knew that then she wouldn't let me leave for sure. "Don't worry. Sam is with me. He will protect me, right Sam?"
"Okay, but still be careful," she said and hugged me.
She released me from the hug, so I smiled at her reassuringly before I ran out of the house. The park wasn't far, so I decided I would walk there and the weather was nice for a walk too. Leaves falling as a cool breeze went through the air, blowing them off of the trees. Sam was in my bag, in case someone would find him strange, although I liked showing him off to others. When we arrived the park was full, couples, families were walking around, people running with their friends, dog, or alone, while some were just simply enjoying the sun and the Autumn breeze. I stood beside a tree and kept looking around examining everybody as we were waiting for the mysterious person to show up.
"Jack?" asked someone from behind me, so I turned around to see Mark approaching the tree.
"Hi, Mark," I said surprised then I looked around again for any sign of trouble before I turned back to him.
"What are you doing?" he asked with a nervous smile.
"I'm waiting for someone," I answered honestly and he was constantly looking at the ground.
"Did you get a message?" he asked and he slightly looked up to meet my confused look.
"Yeah... How do you know that?" I asked a little bit suspicious.
"Because it was me," he said, smiling at me, rubbing his arm up and down, but not from the cold weather because he was wearing a leather jacket that looked rather warm. "You know... I was missing from school on Thursday and Friday and we're gonna write a math test tomorrow.
"And?"
"The problem is that I don't really understand this topic and I thought, because you are good at math, that I will ask your help," he said and looked at me with big puppy eyes. "May I ask your help, please?"
"Of course," I said, smiling at him and was a bit relieved too that it wasn't a totally random, mysterious person asking for my help. "Where do you want to go? Your house or..."
"There's nobody at home and my mother doesn't really like if I'm alone with someone there without her appearance, so... can we instead..."
"Yeah, no problem," I said and we left the park, heading back home.
We didn't really talk during the walk, because I didn't know what we should talk about. I haven't talked to him since he had his little fight with Josh and I feel like I barely know anything about him. I felt Sam moving around in the bag like he wanted to get out, but it was too risky. I added Mark's personality to Sam's memory as well, because why not, but Mark didn't know about Sam. We arrived and I opened the door for him then closed it after me.
