Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *sits back and sips tea* Gruniper. I don't even need to fight for this one, guys. Who else would be the perfect match for either one of them? I was disappointed neither of them were really remarked on in Heroes of Olympus but what could I do?
I literally cannot imagine anyone else together in such a harmonious balance. Maybe it's just because Grover and Juniper is an earlier ship from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. When a ship is introduced early, like how Annabeth was literally within the first five chapters of the first ever mythology universe in Rick Riordan's mind book, that ship will stay with readers. There's just something about the simplicity, the easy way the characters are drawn together without a passionate fight or traditional duel that makes me love these ships. It's not like a teen fiction ship where the boy and girl (or bxb, gxg, I don't care) always have to find their way back to each other in a crazy revolutionary plot. Although, if done correctly, those types of ships can be utterly page-turningly AWESOME, sometimes the basics are needed. Riordan introduces Grover and Juniper as a predestined couple, readers don't see them get together, which leaves no argument for proship or antiship. I think it's the perfect way to introduce a side ship that everyone can love. Remind me to use it, sometime. It's genius to me.
Grover and Juniper belong together. Maybe it's just the fact that he's a satyr, dedicated to nature, and she's a tree nymph, but I honestly can't see it any other way.
Long live Gruniper! :)
(Also, two chapters in one day is freaking wild for me- no pun intended)
