do you remember
when we were kids
we'd run around in fields of green
and pick dandelions to make wishes
do you remember
not caring at all
whether or not
we had to be here
whether or not
there was a point
all you cared about
all we cared about
was feeling the wind in our hair
the sand between our toes
the grass when it tickled our nose
rolling down hills, running through acres of shamrock
do you remember
when we were smaller
we’d sing about the fairies you swore you saw
the fairies i could never see
and we laughed till we couldn’t breathe
do you remember
when climbing trees
sunlight tumbling between the leaves
and scratching our knees
were our only worries
all you cared about
all we cared about
was unchoreographed dancing,
bare feet on the concrete
pinky promises
our newest adventures at all odd hours
chasing butterflies through meadows of wildflowers
my memories
they come
in far too fast flashes
i can remember us
wishing on eyelashes
i wonder
do you remember
us, together , you and me
i wonder
do you remember
being care free
