“A vampire?” I asked dubiously, “You really expect me to believe that?”
“I don’t expect you to believe it,” he said, green eyes boring into mine, “I know you believe it.”
“You don’t know anything,” I growled, “And I don’t believe you’re a vampire.”
“You don’t?” he arched an eyebrow, “Well fine then, but let me ask you this.”
“Over the summer, was your tattoo tingling a lot? And today was it tingling as well?” he asked, folding his arms.
"Yeah, so?” I asked, feeling bored with Gambit's games. He had to be crazy either crazy, on drugs, or just mental.
“That only happens whenever I’m around or nearby and you’re looking for me, or even before we see each other for the first time after the ceremony,” he said matter-of-factly.
“Well, you’re nearby and it’s not doing anything,” I challenged, folding my arms. This whole conversation seemed completely pointless. None of this could possibly be true.
“It doesn’t do that if you’re with me; that would be stupid,” he said, giving me a weird look.
“Oh yes That would be stupid Mr. Vampire!” I threw up my hands in exasperation.
"Cute," he glared, "“But you better learn to deal with it love, it’s your life now and you can’t change that,” he said, annoyed.
“Excuse me? So now the scary vampires going to tell me how I can and can't live my life?” I asked incredulously.
"You heard me. You can’t change it. Once claimed always claimed. We’re bonded forever unless one of us dies,” he narrowed his eyes at me.
Well I know who I nominate to go first. The beating of my heart was erratic and I'm sure you could see the fumes of anger rolling off of me. Who was he to tell me how to live My life? Even if I were to believe that he was some mythical blood sucking creature.
“So what? I’m stuck with you? Forever?” I asked, horrified.
“If you live that long,” he hissed, “Although I sincerely doubt it.”
I glared, “Is that a threat?”
“Maybe,” he said, smirking as he suddenly pushed me backwards so I was cornered against the counter, “After all, you do smell incredibly tempting…” his lips trailed up my neck and I shoved him away as hard as I could. He probably wasn’t expecting me to do that because he stumbled back, shocked.
“What? Not used to having girls pushing you away instead of falling at your feet?” I taunted, clutching my towel tighter around me.
The shock was gone in an instant, replaced by a smirk, “You really shouldn’t taunt me like that; you’re the one in a towel and I’m the one with super speed. I could have you naked and pinned underneath me in your bed faster than you could blink.”
I flushed with anger and embarrassment, “Out! Get out, get out, get out!” I shouted, pointing at the bathroom door.
“Fine,” he said, shooting me a surprisingly serious look, “You don’t believe in vampires? Fine. You don’t want me around? Fine.”
He opened the bathroom door before turning around again, his red eyes boring into mine, “But don’t blame me when in a few days you’re practically going crazy,” he said icily, “There’s a reason you picked this place of all the places in the world to transfer to. And it wasn’t for the good academics in this school.”
And then he was gone. Just disappeared. I gaped at the empty doorway, wondering how he disappeared so fast and what he was talking about. Going crazy? A reason I picked this place?
