An Angel in Disguise

Chapter Seven- The Shock of my Life...

The sun shone down on the metal picnic bench that Skyla and I sat at, eating our ham an cheese sandwich.

"Wanna come to mine after school?" She says out of the blue.

"Of course. I'll just call mum and let her know that i'll be at yours!" I say as I dial my mums number. "Hi mum! I'm going to Skyla's after school if that's okay?.... Uh huh.. Okay!" I say into the phone. "Mum said it's okay Skyla. She'll come around at about 5:30 and have a coffee with your mum okay"

After school I sit on the playground edge waiting for Skyla in the hot sun. It's about 10 minutes since the bell went! Where is she? I think to myself. I soon see her running over to me.

"Uhm, sorry I'm late. Can we leave like now?? Quick! Come on!" She yells at me while tugging on my long sleeve shirt.

I race off after her. We walk down her perfect road, and come to her pperfect house. We walk in and go straight up to her room. I throw my bag on the ground by her bed and watch as she places her bag on her un-made bed and sits down in front of the mirror. She pulls out her blush, grabs a brush from the rack and starts to apply it to her soft cheeks.

She leaves the room to grab a drink. I walk around her room, imagining what it would be like to live here, in this perfect house on a perfect road with a perfect family. That's when I see it. It sits on her bedside table, shimmering in the warm sun. I walk over and pick it up. She can't be using this for what I think she does. That's when I see a white cap in the drawer. I slowly and quietly oull open the drawer and pull out the white container. It has no labels but definatley has pills in it.

NO. I think to myself. She can't be doing this. Her life is perfect.

I flinch as I hear Skyla open the door and waltz in.

"Here's your drink" She says while handing me a glass full of coke.

We sit in her room doing what girls do best. Talking. Although I'm having a great time as usual, I can't get the thought of the blade out of my head. Just sitting there.

"I gotta go..." I say to Skyla. The thought of the blade and the pills was all getting to me. I had to leave and go home to think about it all.

"Okay.. Bye. I Love You" She says with a glum look.

I just look at her and leave.
