Judging

The judging will have 100 total points. There are four main criteria with three to five sub-criteria. If you have questions about any of these, feel free to ask!

Plot: 35 total points

Events (10 points) - Are there specific events that move the plot along?

Pacing (10 points) - Does the story flow well between and during events?

Conflict (15 points) - Does the story have conflict and tension?

Characters: 35 total points

Depth (10 points) - Do the characters have multiple dimensions, both intrapersonal and interpersonal?

Consistency (10 points) - Are the characters consistent to their personality (and if they're canon characters, are they acting in-character)?

Realistic Psychology (10 points) - Are there accurate representations of human reactions, thought processes, and mental disorders?

Character Development (5 points) - Do the characters gradually change during the story in reaction to the plot?

Prose: 20 total points

Grammar (5 points) - Does the story follow the rules of the English language?

Flow (5 points) - Do the words, sentences, and paragraphs flow smoothly and make sense?

Sentence/Paragraph Structure (5 points) - Are the sentences and paragraphs structured in a logical and artistic way?

Descriptive Language (5 points) - Is there descriptive language that adds to the story rather than taking away?

Format: 10 total points

Title (3 points) - Is the title succinct, and does it draw readers in?

Cover (3 points) - Is the cover aesthetically pleasing, and does it accurately represent the general mood of the story?

Blurb (4 points) - Does the blurb give an accurate idea of what the story is about, and does it draw readers in?
