~I hate that I love you~

It was the next morning, Avni had gone to get ready for work and Neil was still in bed, monday was his day off, she often wondered what he did at home all day alone, but didnt want to ask incase the answer broke her heart. She walked out of the bathroom and stopped in her steps when Neil looked her way

His eyes travelled down to her feet then back up again "Where do you think you're going wearing that"
Avni looked down at her shirt and skirt, it was slightly above the knee but the weather was hot
"Um work, you've never had an issue before"
He laughed harshly making her flinch, making her feel as if this was some twisted game

"Ive always cared Avni, I just dont say it"
"Oh" she bit into her lip and looked away
"Um anyway I have to go"
"Whos taking you to work"?
"Um I was going to get Ali to take me"
Neil shook his head "I will take you"
Avni realised there wasnt a single part of her that wanted to say no

Neil's POV-

I looked over at Avni sat in my car, she was on her phone going through her music
"Mind if I change the song"?
I nodded
"You gotta act like a woman

You go and mess things up

My eyes widened at the song choice, it was quite clear she was trying to say something to me
"So I kind of cancelled your work day"
Her eyes widened "What, why"
"Its been a long time since I have taken you out on a date"

"You want to take me out" she asked, shocked
"Well yes if you would like to"
It made me smile to see her smile, it had been a long time since I had been able to make her smile
"So is that a yes"
Her eyes twinkled with excitement as she nodded, I wondered how I hadnt thought of this idea before

"Yeah but where will we go"
She looked over at me, raising her brow at me, I stopped the car
"You know I didnt think I could ever make you smile again, you look so beautiful when you smile"
She blushed a dark red "You didnt answer my question"
"Its a surprise"

Avni's POV-

Neil and I arrived at a small field, he walked over to a picnic blanket and beckoned me over, this felt good as if it was the old Neil, as if he was mine only, that no one else had the chance to have him only the way I could
He outstretched his hand taking mine and shaking it "Hi im Neil"
"What are you"
"We're starting again, only this time, the way it should be"

"Oh, okay, does this mean we cant act like" I stopped, embarassed to speak any further
"Mean we cant act like what"
"Like we're a married couple"
He leant back as if in shock "Do you still want to"
I turned slightly pulling at the grass around me
"Avni, do you still want to"

"Well, you are still I mean we are still married and if we act from the start then what if you I dont know fall in love with someone else, I mean if our love isnt meant to be then what if it doesnt work this time"
I hadnt realised how fast my heart was racing or the tears that had now ran down my face
"Avni, please dont cry" he hissed and then embraced me tightly "god it kills me when you cry"

"I just" I sobbed, not being able to talk "Avni we can try from the start again, but you will still be my wife and I wont lose you, there is no one else I could fall in love with, I will always love you"
"But what if you find someone else"
He cupped my face, kissing my forehead "I love you, I will always love you, I won't ever want anyone else"
"But what if she comes back"

My eyes stung from the tears and my cheeks hurt from the tears on my skin
"Oh god Avni" he muttered before pressing his lips to mine
I didnt realise how much I needed this, how much I needed him
After all this time, his lips on mine felt as if I was finally at rest, as if the part of me I had lost had finally returned
He picked me up, putting me on his lap and rocked me gently
"Im an idiot but I wont make the same mistake twice "

"Im preety sure on first dates you dont do all of this", I laughed
He shrugged "You're my wife, so its okay"
"You know I could sit next to you rather than here"
"That isnt as fun" he smiled
I closed my eyes resting my head on his chest, "it feels good to have you this close"
Then he kissed my hair "You feel like home to me"
