(This particular short story is set at the end of Book 1: Air, when Korra finds out that Katara can't help her regain her powers, and she is standing at the edge of the cliff. It is believed that Korra was thinking of commiting suicide, with the words she said to Mako, "Go on, get on with your life." and the fact that she would be unable to continue her lifelong job as the avatar any longer.)

"But her connection to the elements has been severed" were the words that rang in Korra's head, nonstop. Master Katara could not heal her. The greatest healer in the world could not heal her. 

"I'm not the Avatar anymore" she thought in her head, as she stopped Naga in front of cliff and got down. "The world needs the Avatar." she said as she looked up at the moon.

"Long ago, a Northern Water Tribe Chief and his wife gave birth to a daughter, one who did not cry, or open her eyes. Worried, the Chief and his wife placed her in the Spirit Oasis, and the Moon spirit gifted her life with part of its own life source. When the Moon spirit had been killed by the Fire Nation, Yue sacrificed her life, giving back to the Moon Spirit and saving the Water Tribes." Korra remembered Katara tell her when she was younger. 

"She sacrificed her life for her people, and the world." Korra said, still looking at the moon. "The world needs the Avatar to protect them and keep balance, but I can even do that anymore." Korra said as she dropped and sat down, covering her face as she cried. From the corner of her eye, she saw blurs or red, orange, and yellow. "Not now Tenzin." she said. "I just want to be left alone."

"But you called me here." A familiar voice said, startling Korra, causing her to quickly turn around.
