Chase POV
The bartender let's out a cry before he falls down. The few other customers in the bar scream and try to get to the floor so that they don't get in the crossfire. Dean shoots his gun at the man who fired, and one of the guards goes to shoot him. I quickly push him out of the way on to the floor feeling the bullet fly past my head. Alian quickly turns around and shoots the other two guards, giving Peter enough time to get his gun out but not enough to fire it before Alian's aim is back on him.
"Now Pete. I'm happy to die. I almost did not too long ago you can ask those two." She says nodding her head towards us, "However I don't think you want to die. Do you?"
"Whatever happens now I'm dead so I don't really have a choice... Do I?" He replies, "I shoot you, you'll shoot me, if we let each other go I'll be Scotforth not killing you, you take me prisoner I'll probably end up dead in less than twenty-four hours."
Alian simply gives him a small smile,
"You may be right about that. But unfortunately you're already dead." She answers. At that minute Dean shoots his gun from the ground and Alian flips the table making Peter lose his aim. He fires blindly before falling to the ground dead.
Dean POV
"Did I just kill a man?" I ask hesitantly staring at Peter's body lying motionless on the ground. I stare at the gun in my hands completely shocked and drop it.
"Dean?!" Chase shouts. I look at him and he sighs in relief, "We've got to go."
I not my head in agreement and he quickly grabs my wrist. I look to Alian and notice her taking a bottle of vodka before following us out the back entrance. We make our way to the hotel as quickly as we can without being seen by any of the police swarming the area. When we walk in Alian mutters something under her breath before picking her pace into a jog. I look in the direction she's running and see her running towards Terin and another guy. He opens his arms and she jumps in giving him a big hug.
"Hey Em." He smiles at her when they break apart. His eyes gaze down her,
"You look like shit." He smirks, "Did you give up working out?"
"Bet I could still kick your ass." She says giving a small smile. "It's good to see you Cole."
Terin studies me from the corner of his eye,
"You okay Dean?" He asks. I nod,
"We will tell you what happened when we get back to the rooms." Chase says. We nod in agreement and make out way up to the room. Cole wraps his arm around Alian's shoulder and starts talking to her quietly. We reach the rooms and all go into the nearest one. Alian mutters something in Russian before walking towards the balcony. I watch her go and she takes out the bottle of vodka from under her jacket where she was hiding it.
"I'll go." Cole says following her out. I sit down on one of the beds and sigh. The fact that I killed not one but two men seems to hit me and I stare at my hands.
"What happened?" Terin asks.
"Dean shot two people today." Chase answers.
"First kills." He replies with understanding in his voice.
"Does it get any easier?" I ask after a minute of silence.
"It shouldn't." Terin answers. I look up and see them both looking outside where Cole grabs the bottle of vodka and chucks it over the balcony. Alian stares at him completely shocked. I sigh,
"I'm going to go in th other room." I tell them not caring if they are listening or not. I walk through the co-joining bathroom and into the other room before flopping onto the bed and close my eyes. A few minutes later I hear someone else walking in but don't bother to open my eyes.
"Need a drink?" Alian asks. I open my eyes and see her holding up a bottle of something alcoholic but can't see what and she waves it around with a sloppy grin on her face.
"Pass me the bottle." I sigh not caring what it is just wanting to get my mind off what happened earlier. Alian unscrews the lid on top and takes a large sip before passing it to me. I take it and sit up before taking a large sip myself. I recoil at the taste not expecting it to be so strong. Before I can look at what it is I feel Alian take the bottle out my hands.
"You shouldn't drink so much." I mutter uselessly. She shoots me a glare, "I'm just saying."
"Next time don't." She hisses taking another swig. I hold out my hand for the bottle and take another swig when she passes it to me.
"I wanted to say thank you. I mean I wanted to die, pretty sure I still do but you didn't know that cause you don't know me but you saved me anyway so thanks." She says. I stare at her in shock.
"Oh... You're-you are welcome." I reply after a minute. She nods her head takes the bottle back before taking a very large sip and then passing me the bottle. She then falls onto the bed and in the next few minutes I hear her lightly snoring. I give a small smile before getting up and moving her onto her side so if she throws up she won't choke on it. I take the bottle and drink more. I don't know how long but eventually Chase comes in. He looks at me and the bottle in my hands with a slight frown.
"Are you okay?" He asks. I wave the bottle in the air,
"Amazing." I mutter.
"It's always hardest the first time. I still struggle with it now. Going into what we do you think you'll be okay until it happens, but when it happens is when you find out if you can actually do the job." He sighs. "If you want out Dean. Say now before it's too late."
I think about what he says as well as the reason I joined. The reason I was reporting to Peter. Whilst they may not be doing what is right part of me knows that I could go back to the agency. I would be safe and I would be treated with respect... But I know it's not right.
"Don't worry. I'm staying for now." I tell him. He nods his head in approval, before walking over to Alian and giving her a kiss on the forehead.
