3.) Things get Fun?

As we drive along the road I admire how things have changed in the three years I was away. How the birds seem to sing a somber song. Maybe I'm use to the ones in Montana. They always seem to be happy. Here they sing softer and quiet. But as we sit at a red light in front of our bank waiting to turn in, I listen through the sound of cars the beautifully sad song chirped by the group of tiny birds as they sit perfectly perched on the cable line.

"Babe?" I hear Dillion ask breaking the silence in the car. "How much you getting?" He asks.

I ponder the question for a  second. I raise my hand and pretend to do the math in the air. "Maybe like sixty before the discount and if i have enough after that how ever much I can get with the extra. Maybe save a twenty."  I say really fast. Not sure of his response.

He swings his head in a circle trying to process my words and as the light turns green he turns into our bank and lefts out a soft confused, "Okay." I smile as he parks in the closest spot to the doors as he can get. As I unbuckle i hear Kayla's ringtone go off. I answer her call. "Hey girl how soon can you be here?"

I open the door and put my phone between my ear and shoulder as I grab my purse and trash. As I do so i think of the most accurate answer, "Umm," I say thinking, "well Dillion and I just pulled into our bank maybe thirty minutes depending on traffic."

She sighs in relief, "Lindsey girl Josh wants to throw a party like we use to back in high school except you know it'll be our party and nowadays high school people will be here with some of our friends. He wants a cheat day." As she speaks I wait at an appropriate distance at the ATM. I scrunch my eyebrows and think about what she just said.

"Cheat day you guys still do that?" I ask as the little old lady in front of us leaves. "Hold on Kay," I tell her as I get the old lady's attention ,"Excuse me miss you forgot your receipt." She turns around and thanks me with a beautiful smile on her small wrinkly face. She grabs it from the machine and continues on with her life.

As I get to the machine I hear Kayla on the other line speak, "Hello?" She asks. I can hear her annoyance.

"Sorry, so cheat day?" I ask.

"Yeah, I don't like the idea but everytime we do it I wake up next to him with picture of us on my phone. Idea is we can act single and do whatever we want with whoever not matter how drunk we get. I hate that but i don't remember ever waking up with anyone different on cheat or regular days. So if anything it proves that he loves me and is only trying to prove that more. " It all sounds cute and I don't dare open my mouth to tell her the truth. I love her too much.

"So what you need babe and I to buy some alcohol?"  I pause for a second waiting for her reaction.

"Could you?" She says in a high pitched squeal. I saw that coming as soon as she said 'party.' I smirk into the phone as I pull two hundred out. Whatever I don't use I'll put in my safe. I probably have close to a grand in there.

"Of course, I just pullled the money out now. I'll see you soon and then me and you can go get the basic party stuff i'll buy the drinks if you buy the pizza." I say as the machine dispense my money. I pray the wind doesn't blow because this machine doesn't have flap to keep it from blowing away. I grab the money and shove it in my purse and motion to Dillion to grab the paper.

"Girl i'll text you." She says hanging up. I just walk to our ugly blue beetle car. I get in and tell Dillion the plan. "So were going to go get the stuff from Kayla then me and her are going to drop it off at the house and get alcohol. And get ready for the party you can come with if you want to change but me and Kayla are and we'll be back to just chill before the party. Or you can chill with Josh at her house."

He nod in response as he think for a decision. As he thinks I grab the aux cord and play some music. "Pre-gaming already?" He asks as I jam out to the loud beats that pound out of the speakers. I smile giddily as I bounce to the music.
