I can tell Erika Skywater is scared. Why did I tell her this? I could have kept it a secret.
"What are you? Who are you?" She said.
"I don't know. I don't know how I got here. I don't know anybody here. I had family from what you call the future but I don't think they are here. I understand if you never want to see me again," I say.
"Who says I never want to see you again," she smiling now. I love her smile. "But listen you can not tell anyone. People will be frightened if they find out where you are from. They will try to destroy. They will see you as a threat."
"Do you see me as a threat."
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because you're different."
"How so?"
"Because you have the slightest different look then everyone else. I think I may be the only one that sees it. My parents had that look too. Now it scares me more because I think my parents are from the future too. Maybe that's why they were killed by the FBI."
"If it's true. What you said. What does that mean for me."
"Nobody can know who you are. You have to hide and not let anyone find you. I'm coming with you."
I can't believe she wants to come with me. I won't let her. I won't let her put her life on danger. I guess if it's meant to be then we will find each other. I wonder if she feels the same way about me that I feel about her.
"I can't let you do that Erika Skywater," I said. "It's to dangerous for you to be with me. Especially if they knew you were your parents daughter."
"I have nowhere else to go. I'm willing to risk it."
I lean in close to her face and whisper into her ear, "only if you are sure."
"I'm sure," she says.
Are faces are touching. We are staring into each other's eyes. Our lips are inches apart. I start to lean in. Then we kiss. I think it was my first kiss. I don't remember kissing anyone before. Maybe I did and that was something I was made to forget. We stand there kissing passionately for a while. I take her face in my hands. She wraps her arms around me.
Then we are broken apart when we hear a gunshot...
