Keep running, you need to get there in time.

Clutching my fist around the crumpled note in my hand, I pump my legs harder, willing them to go faster. I can hardly breath, it's hard in this weather. Every time I try to take in a deep breath, the wind just seems snatch it up and whips it away again.

My heart is beating rapidly against my chest, as if it's trying to break through my rib age and escape. Thats what she says she's doing, trying to escape.

The tears run down my cheeks, slowly leaving a trail on my dirt and soot covered face.

It's hard to run in this dress, and I'd left my heels and my cell phone in the bag of the restaurant with the date I ran out on.

For this.

Where is she? If I don't make it in time-wait, will I even be able to convince her?

Has she been gone too long already?

He said she's as good as dead.

I shake my head mid run, trying to knock that thought out of my head. She won't do it, she can't do it.

But that's what He wants, He wants her to do it. And He always gets what he wants.

My feet protest in pain, as I slap them and pound them bare against the gravel, but I can't stop. I won't catch her in time if I do.

And He will catch me.

The gash on my forehead oozes thick, red blood. He tried to catch me, stop me from getting to her.

I'm going dizzy. All I can see is red. And pain, I can see the pain. I can feel the pain.

I round a corner and I come up to a tall building. It's grey. Everything just seems to be grey.

That's not so bad though, it 's fathomless black, I need to look out for, that's his favourite colour. He likes to wrap it around me, until I can't hear, until I can't see, until, I can't feel.

Until I can't breath, and He's suffocating me and the only way to escape it is in death.

That seems to be what she's figured out. And that's why I need to hurry, that's why I need to save her.

Because if I can't even save her, then who is there to save me? No one. I'll have no one. And that's what he wants.

I see her! She's at the top! I manage to force myself to move faster, waving my arms to gain her attention. But, she's not looking at me, she's not looking at anything, her eyes are closed.

He wants the last thing for her to ever see is the blackness.

I call, I shout, trying to catch her attention. Just open your eyes, you'll see me, I m there for you. I promise.

I made that promise years ago, to protect her.

I can't protect her if she won't look at me.
