Roya

I don't know how it happened. One moment, I was laughing at Christopher as he groped around the room, squawking like a bird. The next, we where sitting on the bed kissing. I broke away first. "Is this right?" I ask. He grins. "Don't know, really." He leans in again. I push my index and middle finger to his lips. "I'm only sixteen." I whisper. Worry swells in my chest. "Roya, if your mother wasn't rich, you'd probably have six children by now." I look down at our intertwined hands. They look so right together. My chest bubbles.

"Your right." I say and lean in again.

Queen Adara

I hid in my chambers all morning. I was sitting out on my balcony, drinking a warm cup of tea when a young guard came in. He shook. "How are you?" I ask. He shrugs. "Uh... okay, my queen." He says. I cock my head. "What's wrong?" I ask, worry creasing my brow. "I-it's Roya, I believe she is started to feel that you do not want to see her. After last night she... she didn't cope well." My brows raise in surprise. "You have been... talking to her?" I ask. The young guard nods.

I sigh. "You may go, I'll talk to her soon..." when the guard doesn't go, I stand up. "Go." I say coldly. The guard shakes his head. "Your scared of her." He confronts. My hands begin to shake and heat whips around me. "N-no." I shake and stutter. He looks down at me and bits his lip. "You are." Then he leaves.

I stare up at the long spiral staircase that'll lead me to Roya's room. If I go... I could confront her about being a cinax. Maybe she knows? I shake my head. She can't. She didn't even know she had the ability until the other night. I move onto the first step. Then back to ground level. No, I tell myself, you must go. She'd be hurt if you didn't, and you don't want that now, would you? I sigh. My inner demons won't stop clawing at me until my chest hurts and my head aches.

I go to the library. I approach Lady Tomberlin, the keeper of books and knowledge. "Are you aware of a young lady named Roya?" I ask her, disrupting the book she was so interested in. "Wha— oh, yes." She says, stopping mid sentence when she saw me standing near her. "You are?" I ask again, surprised. "Why of course! My young Chrissy brought miss Roya here only twenty minutes ago." She says, smiling widely at me. "Will you do me a favour?" I ask, ignoring the fact that Roya was already here.

"Of course!" She exclaims, rising to her full height. She still stands roughly a foot shorter than me. "Will you teach her of what the land used to be like? She obviously lacks education. And especially tell her about the cinax and what it's supposed to do." Lady Tomberlin's eyes grow wide. "She isn't a cinax! Is she?" She hissed, excitement gleaming in her eyes. "Well, I had a vision from the gods saying so." Her work aesthetic kicks in. "Well, of course I would be honoured to teach our little cinax about herself and our country." She bows low to me and scurries off into the walls of books.

Roya

It's about noon when Christopher brings me a meal of roast beef and vegetables laid in a thick, creamy sauce. I can't eat it. "What's wrong, Ro?" He asks, setting his hand on top of mine. "I just feel like... The queen doesn't want anything to do with me." He presses his lips together and his eyes soften. "It's not like that. She just doesn't have time to come and meet you. Guards where killed at the boarder, and she has been hurt." I look up into his eyes. "Are you sure?" He nods, trying to force a smile.

Somebody knocks on the door. Christopher let's go of my hand and walks over to open it up wide. A woman smaller than me carries a stack of books taller than her. With a big puff of breath, she lets them all fall to the floor with a thud. Lady Tomberlin stands across from the stack. "Hello!" She exclaims, walking around to hug me carefully. "Uh, hi." I reply, standing still as she hugs me. "Chrissy?" She asks, looking over at him. I've never seen a guy blush so much. "Yes, Mother?" I gasp. They look nothing alike.

"Will you go? Roya and I have some learning to do." Lady Tomberlin says, shooing her son out. I sit at a small oak table as Lady Tomberlin carefully plucks a book from the pile. She comes and sits across from me. "Ever heard of a place called North America?" She asks. I shake my head. "Huh, well, guess we have more to learn than I thought." She cracks the old book open to reveal a dusty map printed on the inside cover of the book. "This," She says, resting her finer on the map, "is North America." I cock my head.

"Some of the land masses look the same." I point out, resting my finger on it. "Yes ma'am." She says, smiling. "Spandia was once called North America. It was split into two countries, Canada and The United States of America." She says, pointing to a green section and a light pink section. "And mexico, but I don't really like to mention that." She whispers, pointing to a yellow section below the light pink. "The capital of Canada was Ottawa, and the capital of the USA was Washington." She points to two different stars, each across the map from each other.

"Now, Canada was mostly all North, so it was covered In all forest and snow." I cock my head. "The Ice Queens kingdom." She claps. "Exactly! Now, the ice queen rules all the islands up here that didn't flood... so basically only a couple." She motions to all the islands spread up above Canada. "And over here, where most of the fish came from and the Atlantic Ocean touched Canada." She says, sliding her hand to the right. "The water queen." I say. She nods in approval. "And the south, where it never snowed and scarcely rained." She points to a section at the bottom of the land mass.

"Where I am right now." She nods again. "And the west, where the most terrible wind gusts came from." I narrow my eyes at the page. "The four directions, that's where the queens rule from." She nods. "Enough of today. You've learned lots, I suppose." She stands up and leaves.
