"Stop putting your hand in your face," Shay said pushing my hand off of my face and I chuckled. "Ard I gotchu," I said and smiled as she was about to take another picture. Before she took the picture I slightly put my hand in my face just to get her upset.

"Ard so these are getting deleted," She said looking at her phone about to delete our pictures. "Ard you got it, you can get one decent picture if you keep the rest." I said smiling and she smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Ard, last chance and I'm not playing." She said and I just got normal and took the normal ass picture she wants.

"That face really?" She asked with a chuckle. "Aye look, take what you can get." I said and she laughed and rolled her eyes as we kept walking down the street. Things got quiet and the question I've been holding back on asking is lingering on my mind.
"So what was wrong with you yesterday?" I said and she just looked at me and kept walking like I didn't say anything. "At my house, the cookout." I said and she looked at me as she put her hands in her back pocket. "I know what you're talking about," she said and I nodded.
"Well then are you going to answer me or ignore my question like I ain't ask it?" I asked and she shrugged. "I don't want to talk about it," she said and I shook my head not tryna hear that shit. "Shay we've been best friends for four years now, what can you possibly hide from me? I know everything about you, you tell me everything. So why are you hiding this from me?" I asked and she smacked her teeth and stopped walking, so I stopped too.
She stared at me with annoyance written all over her face. "Well if you know me then you should know that I don't want to talk about it right now. You should also know if I don't want to talk about something then I won't until I'm ready, so stop pressuring me to give you every glory detail of my life and problems." She said before she started walking off.
"Is this about Mekhi?" I asked and she stopped and looked at me surprised. "What do you know about that? Did he tell you something?" She asked verifying that it is about him. "The question really is what didn't he tell me?" I said and she bit at her bottom lip and I watched her, then things fell silent for a minute.
"Well if you already know, then why are you even asking me? Seeing as how you're acting tells me that you don't know anything." She said and I stared at her. "Well seeing how you reacted when I said his name tells me he's involved somehow." I said and she stared at me squinting her eyes.
"Don't worry about it, I'll tell you when the time is right. So just leave it alone for now," I said and that shit messed up my whole mood. "Ard man whatever, Ion know when this keeping secrets shit started and it ain't appeasing." I said before I started walking again. Shannon can get on my last nerves, but that shit is rare.
Like what the fuck can she possibly have going on with Mekhi that she don't want me to know about? She can't stand him, so it's nothing sexual or no feelings type shit, maybe he got something on her. With her squeaky clean record she wouldn't want that to interfere with anything she got going on, so she would try to fix it. Maybe she's too embarrassed to say anything right now, but I know Mekhi will say something.
I don't know why he hasn't already, he knows how I feel about her and he knows she's my best friend. "Hey y'all," Kenza said walking up to us finally making it. "Hey," Shannon said like nothing just happened. She can play pretend all she wants, but I'm going to figure out what's she's hiding from me one way or another.
"I said hey Corey," Kenza said throwing herself onto me as she threw her arms around my neck. "Hi," I said pulling her off of me by her waist. "What's wrong with you?" She asked and I just shook my head and started walking again.
Kenza is cool, she is a part of the best friend circle with Shannon and I, but shit ain't where it used to be. After we started fucking she started acting crazy and she even told Shannon about us afterwards. She know how I feel about Shannon just like Shannon knows, so why would she try to jeopardize my chances with Shannon? She knew before we fucked how I felt about Shannon, so there's no excuse.
She got all attached and shit, and keep tryna get me to cuff her but I don't want her. She know who I want, I know who I want, and the person I want know who I want. It ain't nothing new man, even Mekhi know who I want. Speaking of that nigga I need to ask him what the fuck he got against Shannon that got her ass shook and crying and scared to tell anyone.
"Wanna come over tonight? My dad will be out for the the weekend, you can stay if you want." Kenza whispered into my ear as Shannon isn't paying attention because she's glued to her phone. "Nah not this weekend," I said knowing Shannon's father will be out this weekend and I might, a weak might but still a might, get lucky.
"Well I guess I'll be over Shannon's house the whole weekend." She said rolling her eyes. "Oh really?" I asked knowing I got to get her out of staying with Shannon. "Yea, I'm gonna be so bored, rescue me." She said with a fake seductive tone and sad face. "Nah I'm good," I said and she smacked her teeth and leaned away from me where she was whispering in my ear as we walked.
"Where are we going?" I asked them considering we've been walking the whole time in one direction and haven't stopped. "I don't know, this was Shannon's idea so ask her." Kenza said and I looked at Shannon who isn't paying attention. I looked at her phone to see what she's doing and she caught me and hurriedly locked her phone.
All I saw was Mekhi's name, nothing else. "Why are you being nosey?" She asked all defensive. "Seeing what got your attention since we don't,...I asked you a question." I said and she rolled her eyes. I don't know what's going on with Shannon. She is never like this, she's barely ever cranky. This has something to do with what she's hiding from me, that includes Mekhi.
"And what did you ask?" She asked with a attitude. "I asked where are we going?" I asked repeating myself. "I don't know, we was gonna grab some lunch but I'm about leave, I have something to do and somewhere to be." She said and this secret shit is getting played out.
"Which is?" I asked and she smacked her teeth and rolled her eyes as she looked at me. "Why do you keep asking questions? Stop meddling in my life, worry about yourself and Kenza." She said before crossing the street and walking off. "What the hell was that?" I asked Kenza and she giggled.
"What? You know what's going on?" I asked and she nodded. "What? How she gonna tell you and not me?" I asked and she shrugged with a smirk. "Kenza stop playing, and what does Mekhi has to do with all of this?" I asked and she rolled her eyes. "She asked me not to tell you and I'm not. Don't worry about it, if she doesn't tell you when the time is right then I will. By until then, she was right, you should only stick to worrying about you and I." She said and I shook my head and walked away from her.
"Corey, I thought we were gonna have lunch." She said following me. "That was Shannon's plans, not mine. So now that she's gone, I'm gone. I got shit to take care of too, so you worry about yourself and not me." I said rephrasing what Shannon said.
