Chapter 6

Mekhi

"I miss you and you don't even come see me no more." Chassidy said and I'm not amused by her small remarks. She want me to say some shit like I miss you too or I'm coming to see her. I'm really over that shit with her, I'm over her period. I really just want Shannon right now, like I said she's changing me.

I glanced back at the house ready to end this whole conversation. "You can't hear me or somethin? I said I miss you and you don't come see me no more." She said and I saw Shannon coming out of the house with a red cup in her hand. She saw me and smiled and and smiled back and remembered Chassidy is still on the phone.

"I heard you, I got to go I'll call you later." I said and hung up. Shannon has already started walking to me and I walked to her meeting her half way. She walked into my arms and hugged me with a loose smile. I hugged her back and she started rocking side to side for a little second. I don't know why she's so happy, probably because she has been drinking and nothing is going wrong in her perfect little world.

"Why are you so happy?" I asked and she giggled leaned back but kept hugging me. I kept hugging her being the sole reason to why she's still up since she's leaning back on her heels. "You make me happy, you made me feel this way." She said and I chuckled as I watched her intently.

"I did?" I asked with a smile and she started cheesing. "Yes, you make me so happy. You can even make me really happy, really sad, or really mad. Right now as you can see, you made me really happy." She said still cheesing as she entwined our fingers and leaned back even more, and I held her up by our hands. "And how did I do this?" I asked pulling her back up and she stared up at me and I stared down at her.

"Did you mean what you said earlier in the truck?" She asked as I can see the hope in her eyes, she's hoping I did. I just stared into her eyes, they sparkled and all I can see is a little white flower. I leaned down and pecked her lips and she pecked mine back and her smile fell.

"You meant it right?" She asked becoming a little more skeptical and concerned. "Yea," I said and she smiled before she wrapped her arms around my neck and I wrapped mine around her waist. "I really care about you Mekhi, and it feels good that I'm not alone. I was starting to think you didn't care, even if I tell myself you do." She said and I just stared into her eyes.

"That's because the time is wrong, if it weren't then I would.....we would be together right now." I said and a small and uncertain smile appeared on her face then it fell. "Why is it bad timing?" She asked all sad as she stepped back from me and I knew she would be sad. "Because it is, you know why so I don't have to say it." I said and her eyes filled with tears as her lip trembled.

"I don't though, I want to know what's so bad about the timing right now." She said and I pulled her into my arms and held her. "We can talk about this later, let's just go back inside and enjoy ourselves." I said and she wiped her eyes and walked away from me. She know I hate when she do that shit, but Ima let that shit slide for right now.

We walked back into the house and she just went her own way upset that I won't talk about what the bad timing is. She knows so why do I have to even explain it? It makes no sense, she knows that it's Corey. I know she know because she tries to hide everything from him too, so she knows what I'm talking about. I can't just steal his girl, well the girl he has always wanted, when he and his mother took me in and done nothing but good things for me.

For the rest of the night Shannon avoided me or plainly didn't speak to me or look at me. I let her have her little attitude and I just smoked a lot and drunk a little, I just chilled the fuck out and zoned the fuck out. Now we all hopped back in the truck after a long night.

Noni tried that shit, I'm not gonna lie though, I let her dance on me and I enjoyed myself shit. Chassidy black ass on the other hand need to stop calling my phone. We all got in the truck and Shannon got in and sat on my knees. I don't know why she's so mad but I let her have her little attitude the whole night, she need to let that shit go.

"Shannon," I said loud enough for only her to hear. She looked at me out the corner of her eyes and rolled them. I clenched my jaw clutches my fists, it's taking everything in me not to blow up. I took a deep breath and exhaled, calming myself down. I grabbed her jaw and turned her face to face me.

"Aye Shannon you need to get your shit together, don't roll your muthafuckin eyes at me. I let you have your lil attitude all night, now you need to get your shit together and recognize who the fuck I am." I said to her still having a grip on her jaw. "Don't fucking touch her bitch," Kenza said leaning over staring at us from Rodney's lap.

"Don't trip...just shh." Shannon said and I let go of her. "No ain't no don't trip and shhh, I am gonna trip. That's my mother fucking friend and like I said don't touch her, don't even put your fucking hands on her because I will fuck you up in this truck Mekhi." Kenza said loudly and she's making me even more mad.

"Aye Kenza shuttl the fuck up, you can hop out with allat shit. You talking big shit now but when I make that fucking call you gon be scared." I said and she fake jumped up. "Oh my gosh, Kenza leave it alone it wasn't that serious. If there was a problem I would address or tell you, but there isn't so keep your opinions to yourself." Shannon said catching a attitude but really she already had one.

Now she's just projecting her annoyance of me onto Kenza, but shit she need to mind her damn business. "Ard man whatever, but you gonna come to me when he beat your ass one day. Ima remind your ass of this night," she said and Shannon rolled her eyes. "Whatever girl because you're doing way too much right now." Shannon said before turning her body sideways and laying her head on my chest.

"Aye I told y'all Mekhi turnin Shannon ass out, she would've never done some shit like that before. She definitely wouldn't have done that to her best friend, Mekhi leave her alone." Travis said laughing as he drove. Shannon lifted up and kissed my jaw and I looked down at her. "I'm sorry," she whispered to me as she stared up at me.

"Mmhm," I said not tryna hear that shit for real. If she was sorry she wouldn't have done it, and she wouldn't be sorry. "Do you forgive me?" She whispered and I just looked forward, not answering her. She left it alone and snuggled up on me some more. "You wanna spend the night?" She asked and I looked at her.

"Stop talking kid," I said and she just stared up at me then looked forward over at Kenza as she laid her head on my chest. I caressed her thigh which I'd crossed over her other one. I kissed her forehead and she smiled.
