Don't Date The Drummer (1) - Erin's POV

I crossed the parking lot to see Ash already standing there. He texted me earlier to meet him outside of a little coffee shop we often visited at 5:20.

I had turned up 5 minutes earlier than planned as I had already changed before he text me, so I was slightly surprised to see that Ashton was already stood waiting, rarther awkwardly and nervously if you ask me.

His tattooed arms were wrapped behind his back and his head was facing the floor, leaving his hair to flop infront, covering his face.

"Hey, Ash!" I called, crossing the street to where he was stood.

His head jerked upwards at the sound of name and his eyes landed straight onto mine.

I smiled at him and he did the same. But his smile didn't last long before it fell from his lips and his gaze returned to the floor.

I came over to where he was standing, "Hey Erin." he motioned for me to take a seat, so I did. Slightly worried; I studied his face, but couldn't find any emotion.

Taking a seat next to me he pulled out a bouquet of picturesque looking bright, yellow roses.

"I bought you some flowers." He told me, extending his arm to pass the dozen roses to me. I gratefully accepted and thanked him.

Although his voice was completely monotone, I thought I heard a slight hint of sadness laced through his words. What was wrong with my boyfriend?

And why yellow roses? My favourite colour was red, especially in roses because it meant love. Wait, what!?

"Yellow for... friendship?" I questioned, my words heavy with confusion.

He just nodded in reply.

"Shouldn't they be red for love?" I asked again, adding a slight smile to hide the confused look on my face.

Looking straight at me, properly since we first sat down. He sighed my name softly, still no sign of any emotion breaking through his face.

"Love would mean we are in a relationship. We were. I think we should just be friends. Hence the 'Yellow roses for friendship'..."

He added quotation marks with his fingers around the words.

He was... breaking up with me?

"What? But when did-? What did I-? We're doing really well. I don't- What?"

I managed to splutter out before Ash stood up unexpectedly, mumbling sorry around 5 times before walking off around the corner. I also stood up a while later and headed in the direction of my car.

Walking past a trash can I contemplated whether or not to throw away the flowers. In the end, I convinced myself that my mom would like them more that I do. Seriously though, just the other day we were fine and everything was going well. Now we've broken up and I can't help but to keep from wondering... why?

Ugh, Ashton Irwin, why are you so complicated? Why are you leaving me, just when I thought you were mine?
