Part 29 - Runaway

I sat scrolling through emails with my heart pounding while I waited and stared out the window. Was this a good idea? What was I thinking? 'You were thinking about the D', my conscience said and I laughed out loud. That much was true, I wanted my hands on him but the sex wasn't what worried me. Bruno said he wanted to see what could've been. What the hell does that even mean? "Hello beautiful", I heard and snapped out of my thoughts not knowing he had boarded. "Hey", I said and stood crossing to him. He tightly wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in for a deep hug. I closed my eyes and welcomed being in his arms, taking in his scent and the moment. I took my seat as he took one opposite me and I turned my body towards him. "I didn't know if you would come but I'm glad you did", he said with a smile. "Umm, yeah I'm here", I said at a loss for words. "I keep making you nervous", he grinned. "We've never been here before. This is completely new territory and truthfully, I don't know how to act around you right now", I told him. "Alright, well I'll put it this way"' he started. "I was very happy to see you yesterday. Like I said before, I was surprised to see you show up at more door last night. What I'm more surprised by is how I felt when you left", he said. "And how was that?" I asked. "I was confused. Hurt, but relieved", he said. "Relieved?" I questioned. "Yes, relieved because it gave me time to think. We never had any closure Candy. Last night proved that clearly there is still something between us and I want to see what that is", he said. I blew out a heavy breath and processed what he had said. "You're right; and I guess that's why I'm here. We just stopped, and our relationship was deeper than the ending we had", I told him.

We settled in for takeoff and the seven hour flight we had ahead and you could tell we were both nervous. "So, who knows about this little excursion of ours?" I asked him. "My assistant, because she helped me with the last minute plans and Jaime, that's it; you?" "Well I only told Carmen but since you fly with Cheese's agency, he knows and I'm sure he has a tracker on the damn plane", I laughed. "And Randy knows I'm with you, but not the details", I said cautiously. "Randy", Bruno sighed saying no more and I just eyed him. We moved to the rear of the jet when the attendant informed us that they had set up refreshments for us. "Wait", Bruno said before I went to take a seat. I looked to him an instant before his hand came to my face, pulling me in for deep, passionate kiss. I fell in, bringing my hands to his face and sank into the slow kiss. My heart fluttered and chills ran up and down my spine. "There, now that that's out of the way", he said when we broke. There was a small round table with two plush chairs set with champagne, fruit and caviar. "Oh, so you fancy huh?" I said taking my seat as the attendant popped open a bottle of Ace of Spades, still dazed from that kiss. "Not really", Bruno said. "I mean, I made sure we would have lunch but not this", he laughed as he was handed a note. He read it and then handed it to me.

We toasted to my brother and the retreat ahead and sipped champagne. "So, what are the rules to this little venture we are embarking on?" I asked as we ate and drank. "Rules?" he asked. "Yes Bruno, rules. What's the end game here? This was your idea, so what is it you want", I said. He sat for a second and thought. "First, get out of work mode and don't treat us like one of your clients", he said with a small laugh. "What I want is for us to let go. Let's enjoy each other the way I know we can. Let the bullshit go and have one last ride so to speak", he said. "And then what?" I asked, curious. "Then we'll see", he said. "Alright", I said blandly. "What is it?" he asked. "I don't know. So we pretend nothing happened and just pick back up where we left off; because if you remember correctly, we didn't leave off in a good place Bruno", I told him. "Let it go. We don't have to ignore it, just let's not let it be our focus. Focus on you and me and having a good time", he said. "Alright, so how have you been?" I asked trying to lighten the mood and make myself feel more comfortable with the situation. "Good", he said with a chuckle, "you?" "I'm good. I'm in a good place. My best friend just married the love of her life and I couldn't be happier", I said. "I can't believe Kam's married", he laughed. "You guys are falling off fast", I laughed. "And with a baby on the way!" he added. I gasped dramatically with a hand on my chest. "Kameron's having a baby!" I laughed. "Oh please! I'm sure you knew before he did", he said. "It's true, I did", I said. "I love the album by the way. It sucked to not want to hear you and want to hear you all at the same time, but its amazing Bruno! As if you weren't huge before, this album is fire and just solidified your superstar status. 24 Karat Magic is all in the air", I said dramatically. "Thank you", he said smiling. "Are you blushing", I laughed. "Stahhhb!" he said, "it just means a lot coming from you", he finished. We sat laughing and catching up and downed the bottle of champagne. Halfway through the flight we migrated back to the front. He stopped me before I sat down, pulling me in for another kiss. "So you get to kiss me whenever you want huh", I said with my lips still skimming his. "For the next three days I do", he said before taking my lips again.
