They were in Egypt. Appropriate, as Set was the Egyptian God of Death.  Nick had used his newfound powers to resurrect Vail as well, like with Ellie. Bringing him back to life however, had not brought an end to his complaining.

"Nick, I just wanted to say thank you again, and that I'm really glad to be here and all, and grateful, but what are we even doing here?"

"Come on, my friend. Where's your sense of adventure?" Nick tucked the photograph of Ellie into his front pocket, against his chest, over his heart. In fact, he was glad to be rid of his photo - looking at it had only brought back memories of all his mistakes and regrets. But the picture of her -   He would see her again. Of that he was certain.

Far away, back in London, Elerie stood with Jenny and Jekyll in the Prodigium headquarters beneath the museum.

The Prodigium agents had taken Ahmanet's corpse and put it back in her sarcophagus, filled with mercury, and were now submerging it in a pool of the silver liquid as well, jackal statues facing inwards, guarding it, guarding her, just like in the tomb where they had discovered her.

"You were wrong about Nick.  He gave his life to save me, more than once.  He sacrificed himself to bring me back. I  was wrong about him," Elerie was saying.

"Perhaps," said Jekyll, watching as the sarcophagus disappeared beneath the silver surface until it was fully submerged, bathed silver in mercury, hidden. "But his sacrifice was at a great cost: he is a monster now."

"But he's also still a man," Elerie defended.  "A good man. Maybe he doesn't believe that, but  I do."

"Evil never rests. He has only just begun to discover his power - just as you have begun to discover yours, Doctor Taylor."

"Perhaps, but I'm no monster." With that, she left them.

"Henry," Jenny said, not liking where this was going - he was using Elerie.

He seemed to know what she was speaking of. "Sometimes, Jennifer, it takes a monster to defeat a monster."

(And that's it! I really hope you enjoyed :) Thank you so much for your support! (Even though it took me a long time to update). I guess I'll have to see what happens with the Dark Universe movies moving forward (we haven't even seen Ellie use her powers yet, and  her and Nick's banter and past was fun to write!) I hear they're supposed to make 'Bride of Frankenstein', and they're interested in casting Gal Gadot, which would be awesome!

Again, thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed overall! :))
