"You'll forever be the outcast of this school forever, loser!"

The most admired and the most popular student in the school teased the emotionally unstable Taehyung. His words stabbed him in the chest, as if millions of glass shards pierced through it at the same time. He felt utterly betrayed. Taehyung trusted him enough to actually share some secrets.

The memories of light-heartedness together shattered in his mind, tainting it with distrust and betrayal. Everything seemed so unreal and just so... fake. The tears threatening to fall are the reflection of the raw pain he felt at that moment.

Fake friends...

The popular kid and his gang cackled as they walked away, their laughs and and footsteps echoed in the hallway where Taehyung stands alone, feeling alienated from everyone else. He hated himself for being the confused, clueless kid every time. He hated himself for being extremely sensitive.

He just hates every aspect of himself.

Not holding back anymore, he let all his bottled up feelings of sadness, regret, anger and hatred out through his tears. He dropped to his knees and curled up into a ball in the desolate hallway. Even his parents felt that he was not good enough. Nothing was good enough for any of them.

The stress of meeting everyone else's expectations troubled him. The only warmth and understanding Taehyung felt from anyone was himself. He comforted himself, telling himself that it would be alright, that no one will create the future for him.

"Oh! What are you doing sitting on the floor right now? Are you alright?"

A sweet melodic voice came from above. An angel? Slowly, he lifted his tear-stained head up to see a real angel. Something that he was yearning to see from the lack of love and care he receives from everyone else. A genuine smile. Genuine worry about his wellbeing.

Taehyung stared blankly at the student council president, his mouth agape. Everything froze.

It was hard to believe that he was staring at an angel, he looked so perfect to him. As he stared into his glistening brown eyes, he took in every little feature he had. His soft brown hair that flowed with the wind-

"Uhm, hello?"

Taehyung snapped out of the trance that the boy cast on him. He blinked multiple times and pinched himself as he felt the boy was too ethereal to be real.

"W-What's your name?" Taehyung bravely asked the boy. The boy looked taken aback, asking himself why he hadn't known the name of the student council president.

"My name is Jung Hoseok... What's yours?"

"Kim Taehyung."

When Hoseok found out the boy's name, his face expressed the look of shock. Taehyung's name had a bad reputation in the school and it's not even his fault. People hear the name as something that they should steer clear from. Just because of rumours being spread. He was the boy everyone talked trash about.

Taehyung was rumoured to be a selfish and arrogant idiot. Hoseok stared at the helpless boy curled up, as if the cruelty of the people in the school corrupted the once warm and cheery atmosphere he made for himself. The boy looked so innocent and afraid. He did not have the face that someone should be afraid of. He looked like a child, abandoned.

Taehyung could not look him in the eye, he looked at the ground wishing it could swallow him. Hoseok, being the sunshine of the school, kneels down in front of Taehyung and forced him to look into his eyes.

Hoseok admired the features of the boy he had finally met. Taehyung's face was most definitely handsome. Although seeing him with red, puffy eyes and a tear-stained face brought his spirits down. He wanted to help him. Even though he did not know what he was going through, his heart went out to him.

Hoseok grabbed Taehyung's face and stared deep into his eyes, looking into his broken soul. Taehyung was flustered at his sudden actions. Hoseok could see and feel the hurt in his eyes, breaking his heart at the sad aura Taehyung had. After admiring each other, Hoseok smiled. Taehyung looked as confused as ever. Taehyung's world stopped as soon as Hoseok said just one word.

"Smile."
