"We'll be alright. Tomorrow we'll look for living people," I whispered to my twin brother, Sean. For the past two months, there's been an apocalypse going. The dead are roaming the earth and we call them walkers. We were on our own, but that's no different from before the outbreak. The only difference is that the people are now dead and walking while trying to rip us open and eat us. We were sent to an orphanage when we were born, because our mom didn't want us and she moved far from our dad. He was told we died at birth.

My name is Sydney Dixon and my brother is Sean Dixon. The two of us share the same dark brown hair, besides the fact that his swoops to the right side of his head and mine flows down to my waist-. Our eyes are pretty similar, but his are more brown than my blue eyes. We were twelve years old and surviving on our own.

Of course, neither of us went to sleep that night for obvious reasons. That's when I heard voices a bit up north of where we were camping at. Together, we stood up and got knives before we walked towards the voices. Somehow, one of the men saw us and raised his crossbow.

"Who are you?" the man asked. Seeing that we were just kids, he lowered his crossbow.

"I'm Sean Dixon and she's Sydney Dixon," Sean quickly answered him.

Crossbowman lookled at us in shock a bit."Happen to be twelve?" he asked.

I nodded and exchanged confused glances with Sean. How would this guy know our age? "Who are you?" I asked him.

"Name's Daryl. Daryl Dixon. I was told that my twins died at birth. Sydney and Sean is what my exgirlfriend and I planned on namin' em," he replied. My brother and I gasped. If he wouldn't have mentioned the details, I probably wouldn't have believed him, but that's too many details that you can't figure out just by looking at us.

"So you're saying that you're our dad?" I confirmed and he nodded.

"They can come with us to the camp, just hurry!" a man with a sheriff"s hat urged Daryl.

"Okay! Damn. Come back to the camp with us," my dad mumbled pulling us behind. Gosh, it feels weird saying dad, I thought as I ran behind him.

Sean and I smiled at each other and walked with them. For the first time in forever we were with our dad. It's the first time that we've been with anyone from our family besides each other, actually.

About 15 minutes later, we were back at a camp. There were four other kids; a girl about my age, a boy about my age -from what I could tell, he was a cutie-, and a girl and boy who looked about 10. Everybody else was adults.

"Okay everybody. This is Sydney and Sean Dixon. They're Daryl's kids and of course, Merle is their uncle. Tomorrow morning, Daryl, Tdog, Glenn, and I will go to Atlanta to look for Merle," the sheriff man announced.

"Come on, Rick. You should get some rest for the morning," a lady who was with the cute boy said to the sheriff man who evidently was Rick. He nodded and they walked back.

"Well sit down at the campfire and I'll bring the three of you a plate of fish," a white haired man with a beard said. I smiled at him and we sat down next to a woman, a glaring man, and the girl who looked about my age. A few minutes later the man came back with three plates of fish.

"Hi," Sean said to her. His eyes were set on her and only her.

"Hi," she replied in a small voice.

"What's your name?" I asked with a smile.

"Sophia. You're Sydney and Sean, right?" she asked and we nodded.

"Shut up, Sophia," the glaring man growled at her.

"She's just making friends so fuck off, Ed!" Dad snapped at him and Ed, who looked tough but not as tough as my dad, quickly stopped talking.

"You can talk," the lady who was probably Sophia's mom spoke up. Ed glared at her and she looked down.

"Do you want to play with Carl and me tomorrow?" she asked.

"Yeah, sounds great," Sean smiled and I nodded in agreement.

"It's time for you to go to bed," her mom whispered Sophia and they walked back to the tent.

"Y'all should go to bed too," Dad said to us.

"Okay," I replied standing up and helping Sean up. Then Dad led us to a tent and we laid down in a second sleeping bag that must've been Merle's.

The next morning, I carefully got out of the bag, failing to not wake up Sean.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled.

"I don't care," he shrugged with a smirk. The two of us walked out to the area where the ladies were.

"Your dad left early this morning for Atlanta. He'll be back by the evening," a girl with blonde hair explained. "My name's Amy and this is my sister Andrea," she said pointing to a girl with blonde hair sitting next to her.

The two of us sat down by the lady who was with Mr. Grimes. "I'm Lori." she introduced herself. "You two are probably my son Carl's age," she added with a smile. "Carol, where did Carl and Sophia go?" she asked Sophia's mom who must be Carol.

"They're playing down by the lake and Shane's watching them," she replied.

"Can we're go down there when we/re done eating?" I asked.

"Of course you can," Lori said with a smile and handed us a plate of food.

"Thanks" Sean said. When we finished eating, we ran down to the lake where I saw Carl and Sophia digging in the dirt and talking. Sophia spotted us and waved. Sean was blushing when he saw Sophia. The two of us ran over to them and we started talking.

"Hi guys," Sophia said and Carl looked up and smiled.

"Finally. some kids around our age!" he exclaimed with a smirk. The four of us got into a great conversation. That's when I noticed something. He kept staring at me with his beautiful blue eyes.

"Carl? Wanna catch some frogs?" Shane called from the lake.

"Sure, just a second!" Carl responded and ran to the lake. I sighed and looked at Sophia and my brother. Sean kept flirting like a dork with her and I couldn't help, but smile. This must've been the first time in forever since he's ever had a friend besides me.

Sophia was really beginning to like him a lot from what I could tell. I just hope that all of this could last.
