"Brackenfur, take out Dustpelt, (W/N), and Longtail on a hunting patrol" Whitestorm mewed to Brackenfur. Your (F/C) fur swayed with the wind, and your eyes narrowed. Not Longtail... He is as mouse-brained as a blackbird!  But you knew you liked him. Such great personalities, amazing fur... You shook your (F/C) head. "(W/N), Come here!  You'll be coming with on a hunting patrol" Dustpelt called from the gorse tunnel. "Coming!" You called back, pretending you hadn't heard. "So, um.. are we going now?" You asked, once you'd padded over to the patrol. It was sunhigh. "Yes" Longtail answered, rolling his blue coloured eyes.  "What'd you think, we would wait 'till dusk?" "No" You growled. You flicked his pale tabby coloured ear with the 'V' shaped nick, using your tail. "Stop bickering. Let's go" Brackenfur murmured. He led the way out into the forest.

Your tail hovered slightly over the ground. You crouched forward. With a hiss, you leaped. The squirrel squeaked, blundering away. It raced towards a tree. Dustpelt leaped in front of it's path. It skidded to a halt, and ran towards a new tree. But Longtail was there already. It clearly hadn't seen him, for it ran right into his paws. Longtail flicked his ear, crushing it's body down with a paw. He flung it towards Dustpelt, who finished it by cracking it's spine. "Great catch" Brackenfur commented to all three of you. There was a limp body of a vole by his paws. "Easy enough" Longtail boasted. You bared your fang, flattening your ears. "It wasn't just you" You muttered under your breath. But you had to admit, it would have gotten away if he wasn't there, in front of it's second escape route. But credit went just enough to you and Dustpelt. You calmed down, flicking your tail to thank Brackenfur for his words. "Longtail, go fetch those mice that we buried. Dustpelt, take that squirrel, and I'll go find my other vole. (W/N), could you go find that pigeon?" Brackenfur asked. You nodded, turning away. Longtail quickly padded after you, while Dustpelt accompanied Brackenfur with the squirrel. "Great job with that squirrel" Longtail mewed. Your fur grew hot with embarrassment. "Thanks" You mumbled. "I've never seen someone kill a mouse so neatly, either" He added. Your mind wandered back to when you'd pounced on one of the mice that Dustpelt had buried. You nodded slightly to thank him again. "So, do you know where those mice and that pigeon are?" He asked casually. "Ahh.. The prey.. over there!" You exclaimed. You bounded to where a heap of dirt and leaves masked the musky scent of prey. You used you paw to uncover your pigeon. "Here, let me help" Longtail offered, using his nose to push away more debris. He dragged the pigeon out, and then grabbed the two mice by their tail. "Come on" He mumbled, dropping one as he spoke. You chuckled, picking up the pigeon. "Hey, Brackenfur is waiting over here!" Dustpelt called from near-by. You and Longtail padded quickly towards the voice. They spotted Dustpelt's brown pelt, along with Brackenfur's. With a nod, Brackenfur led the patrol towards camp, after Dustpelt picked up the squirrel. He led you down the ravine. You shot a glance back at Longtail, who walked beside Dustpelt. A moment later, you walked through the gorse tunnel. The patrol padded over to the fresh-kill pile, and deposited their prey. "Well done" Ashfur commented. "Prey is plentiful" Sandstorm mewed. "Whoa! Look what Daddy caught!" A little voice mewled. Birchkit, Hollykit, and Larchkit bundled over. It was Larchkit who spoke. Dustpelt purred softly to his kits. "Hollykit, I was grooming you!" Ferncloud's scolding voice came from the nursery.  "Little one", You began to Hollykit, "Your mother wants you. You should go see her." Hollykit grumbled something you didn't catch, and stomped grumpily back to the nursery. "Kits, huh?" Longtail said softly in your ear. You turned your head, blinking your (E/C) eyes. Longtail curled his tail in amusement. "Something wrong?" He asked jokingly. You shook your head. But Longtail looked confused. "You look like something's wrong" He mewed. "N-nothing is wrong... just.. nothing" You mumbled, feeling your fur growing warm. You looked down at Longtail's paws. He was kneading the ground, looking like he wanted to tell you something.
