A new world

Over the next few weeks I summoned Saffy every evening, and she told me everything there was to know about the magic world. I was anxious to go to Diagon Alley, but I wanted to know a bit about this new world, before I entered a street filled with witch's and wizards.
After two weeks, I decided I couldn't wait any longer, and one weekend I ordered Saffy to take me to Diagon Alley. I had a small amount of normal money, from when I worked at a farm one summer. It was just enough to get to a pub called The Leaky Cauldron in London, where Saffy met me.
The pub was full of middle aged men, but Saffy held my hand, and I didn't feel scared. She took me to a wall out the back, and tapped onto certain bricks, which began to move, revealing Diagon Alley.

The street was packed with witch's and wizards. Their clothing was so peculiar. Some wore long dresses and black hats, while others wore long cloaks and robes that reached the floor.
"Where to Safffy?" I asked her.
"Gringotts miss. It's the wizard bank at the end of the street. That's where you will get your gold" replied Saffy.
I nodded, and continued walking through the crowds of people, holding her hand tightly.
Eventually we arrived at Gringotts, which I knew was run by goblins, as Saffy had already told me.
"Can you come in with me?" I asked.
Saffy nodded. "Of course miss".
I took a deep breath and pushed open the bank door.

The building was eerily silent, and I felt everyone's eyes on me as I walked down through the centre of the room, towards the goblin at the end.
"I would like to enter my vault" I said bravely once I reached the end desk.
He glared at me for some time before asking for my key, which I placed onto the desk in front of him.
"Griphook please take miss..." said the goblin.
"Rosier" I finished.
"Please take miss Rosier to her vault" he continued.
A smaller goblin walked up to me and took my key from the first goblin. He then turned around and started to walk away, expecting me to follow him.

The journey through the bank was exhilerating. We rode a cart, through what felt like an underground rollercoster. It was fast, and made me feel a bit sick. But I was fine once we arrived at my vault
"Vault 815" said the goblin named Griphook as he placed my key into the lock and opened the door.
I gasped when I saw the size of the room, and the amount of gold inside.
"This is all mine?" I asked.
The goblin smiled creepily and nodded.
I stepped inside the room and began to look around. There was more than just money in here.
Priceless artifacts and jewelery scattered the room, as well as solid gold cuttlery and plates. It was more wealth than I had seen in my entire life.
I turned to Saffy, who stood at the door. "How much of this do I need? I don't know how expensive things are" I asked her.
Saffy thought for a moment before replying. "50 galleons should be more than enough to get your school supplies".
I nodded and began placing 50 of the gold coins into to the bag I had brought with me.

After we left the bank I felt strange. I had never had this much money on me before, and I was scared of spending it all. Even though I knew I had a whole vault full of more money, back at Gringotts.
I decided that the first thing I wanted to buy with my new money, was a wand. Then I would truely feel like a witch. Saffy told me that the best place to go was Ollivanders, so that's where we went.
The shop had a dark musky feel to it, and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Behind the desk sat an old man, with small bits of grey hair sticking out of his head. But despite that, he had a kind smile, which made my nervousness dissappear.
"Come to buy your first wand I suppose miss Rosier?" He asked.
"How do you know who I am?"
"Some children look like their mothers, and others look like their fathers. You on the other hand appear to be a split of both parents. I remember every wand I've ever sold. Your long black hair is exactly like your mother Petronella's. Your eyes are a copy of your father Evan's though. The rest of you appears to be a bit of both parents" he explained.

Ollivander went off into the back of his store and came back with a beautiful black wand. He handed it to me and I grabbed hold of it nervously. It felt warm in my hand, but I liked it.
I looked up at Ollivander and smiled. But the man appeared to be nervous. "Very curious" he whispered.
"What is?" Is asked.
"It is very rare that people match with the first wand they try. Some people have to try dozens of wands before they find the right one. But it seems like you have found your wand already" he answered.
I frowned. "Is that a bad thing?".
"No no, of course not. Just very unusual. It took both your parents around 4 different wands, until they found the right one. It was a shame about the way they turned out. But I'm sure that the wands that chose them knew what they would become in the end. Wands always know you see" said Ollivander, as he took my wand from me and began to wrap it up.
"What do you mean, it's a shame the way they turned out?" I questioned.
"Well I'm sure you already know that they became Death Eaters. They would have performed many evil acts with the wands they bought from me" he replied, handing the box with my wand in back to me.
I handed the money for my wand over to the man and ran out of the shop, without bothering to wait for change.

Saffy caught up with me outside the shop. "What is wrong miss?" She asked.
I couldn't speak. I should have known what my parents were like once I found out that they had an unpaid slave in their possession. But I guess I wanted to think that they were good people, even though they had abandoned me.
But the shop keeper had just confirmed my worst fears. My parents were not good people at all. They were Death Eaters. Saffy had mentioned the term once before, but had not gone in to detail. From what I knew, Death Eaters were dark witch's and wizards, who served some evil lord, with a name Saffy was too scared to mention.
Ollivander knew that the Death Eaters did bad things. So I decided there and then that I didn't want to be like my parents, and I would tell no friends that I made at Hogwarts, the truth about my Death Eater parents.
