Dom's POV

"Omg hey Dominic!" Lilly said.

"Wow, I really didn't expect to see you here" I replied.

"Here to grab dinner?" She asked me.

"N- yes I'm here to get dinner," I said as I also changed my answer quickly so I could spend time with her.

"Cool! I was just too tired today to make anything so I figured Panera would help"

I ordered a turkey sandwich and Lilly ordered a grilled cheese.

As we were talking about college, Lilly asked me if I was going to homecoming.

"Yeah, I'm thinking of going," I said.

"Me too, I was thinking of going with the lunch squad (Matt, Jerel, Anoshinie, Lilly, and Dom).

"Well, Jerel will be glad to join but I think he will have a date with him," I said.

"That's totally cool! And honestly, I would be SURPRISED if Matt didn't ask Anoshinie or vice versa. They seem to be really interested in each other" Lilly added.

"Oh yesssss, last night Matt told me that he liked Anoshinie. And yeah this stays between you and me".

"This is SO cute and yeah I won't tell anyone anything. I promise".

Dom say it.

"Hey Lilly, since everyone has a partner, you want to go with me?" I said and butterflies flooded my stomach. I had never had these butterflies since 10th grade and I realized I had started blushing.

Lilly's POV

Just say yes.

"I'm sorry I don't have a bouquet and I'm not all fancy, I just thought of this" Dominic added.

Flashbacks went through my mind.

10th grade, lunchtime.

"Lilly will you go to homecoming with me"

The butterflies in my stomach were real. I smiled and hugged him, and said yes.

And then...

And then...

"Lilly," Dominic said, snapping me back to real life.

"I'm sorry for asking you I shouldn't have, it's okay if you don't want to go," Dominic said.

"No, I'll go," I said "I just got lost thinking about" I paused "something".

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes! I would LOVE to go with you!" I said.

We continued talking and eating. When we finished, we headed out.

The bridge looked even prettier at night, the skyline looked very pretty and added a soft glow to the night sky.

"You want to stay here for a while? It's really pretty" Dominic asked.

"Sure," I said.

We leaned against the wall of the bridge and just stared at the water for a few minutes.

"Dom... Dominic I mean, wouldn't it be amazing if you could just sit here all your life and stare at the lights?" I asked.

"You can call me Dom," he said.

"What?"

"It's okay, you can call me Dom"

"But- but you"

"But I only like my mom calling me Dom? It's okay Lilly. Here's a thing: when I joined college I was really sad. Well, sad is the wrong word, I wasn't sad, I just couldn't be happy. Dancing was my freedom then. I had a lot of friends and I didn't have a reason to be sad but I missed my mom since she has been the closest female I have had in my life. But then I met you, and... and I felt happy again. You would relate to me, make me laugh, and help me whenever I needed it. You made me miss my mom lesser; I still miss her, but missing her doesn't physically hurt anymore. I'm glad to have met you, Lilly".

Dom's gaze was completely on mine and I could see the truth behind everything he said through his eyes. And it looked beautiful. He was a beautiful person to begin with, but seeing him raw and in his truest form was very pretty.

Before giving it a second thought, I propped myself up by going on my toes a little, closed my eyes and kissed him. At first, he didn't kiss me back, but then when I was about to pull away thinking I messed up, he kissed me back. For that one moment, we were together and honestly, I didn't want anything else in life. A while later, I pulled away and we just stood there, too afraid to open our eyes, realizing that we had messed up.
