Stand By My Side.

It's been so long.

The lights seep into the room through a crack in the blinds and my throat is dry so I reach for a glass of water when a glass of lemonade was handed to me. 

"Here you go." Came a voice.

I obliviously take it and drink it. My taste buds wake up and I recognise the lemonade, come to think of it I recognise the voice too. I turn around ad my heart and mind does not fail me.

"Costa?" I say in disbelief. He smiles his sweet smile.

"Hey Worm." I dive out of the bed so fast I almost fell out of it. I then leap into a hug and his arms wrap around me so tightly. And in that single moment I feel safe again, the safest I have felt in a very long time. As we hug from the window comes a series of camera flashes.

Kevin goes over and closes the blind, he then comes back over to me and we look at each other for a while.

"But what you doing here in LA I thought you were in Washington." I say.

"A very convincing guy called Lenny hired me to be your Bodyguard." Kevin says.

"You... You are my Bodyguard?" I ask. I then put my hands on his forearms and look into his eyes.

He returns the look and says with a soft tone in his voice. "Yes, I found out what happened Ash and I couldn't bare to have it happen to you again, so I took the job." We lean in closer to each other and we want to kiss but I can see it in his eye that's he can't go through with it.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"This... I'm here to protect you, but that's not to say that I don't want to kiss you cause you have no idea how much I want to. Back in high school with you was the best time of my life and you made me feel alive, you made me happy and you were and still are the best friend I have ever had and I wouldn't change our time together for the world." He says.

"Even our failed attempt as sex for the first time?" I say.
We giggle for a moment.

"That was the best week I ever spent with you. That was also the week I found out you could play baseball.

"HEY COSTA!" I shout from down the hallway.

"Hey Worm." I run up to him and we jump in the air and butt knock each other. We then walk down the hall to where my locker was just before I open it Kevin asks. "How was the exam?" I open the locker then quickly close it hoping Kevin didn't see what was in it.

"Ashlee..." Shit he saw. He then opens the locker door back open. "...Where did you get this and why is it in your locker?" I am silent. I grab the picture and look down at it.

"Worm why is it in your locker?" He asks again. And I begin to cry, and the words came out of my mouth uncontrollably almost like word vomit.

"Because I LOVE YOU!" I say and quite loudly, loud enough in fact the whole hallway falls silent. I then fill with embarrassment and I run away into the female toilets. Kevin hot on my heels. Before he could catch up to me I slam the door behind me.

"No Ashlee, wait." He is behind the closed door, but not for long. He comes in and locks the door behind him, I'm taken aback by the dominating presents he brought into the room with him.

He walks towards me with a stern look on his face and backs me up against the wall.

"Kevin what are you..." He then kisses me. His lips are soft, warm and moist, he teases my lips with his tongue and I open them to let him in. Our tongues dance with one another and we were both lost in the moment. When he stops, but still has me pinned against the wall. Then with a husky, soft whisper he says.

"I love you too..." There came a knock at the door.

"Why is this locked? Hello I need to do my make up."

"That's Jade. You better go." I say.

"She's not my girlfriend you know, she likes to think she is but she's not." Kevin then opens the door and is met face to face with Jade.

"Kevin, what are you doing in here?" Jade asks. She then looks over his shoulder at me, and charges. I dodge out her way and she breaks a nail on the wall and freaks out. While Kevin and I make our escape. We giggle and run down the hall to get away from her as fast as possible.

"So you coming to my baseball game this Friday evening?" He asks.

"Well that depends."

"On what?" He asks.

"If I can play to." I say.
He giggle a little.

"You can't play baseball. You've never played before." He says.

"Well good you can teach me. This lunchtime on the field of dreams. Great see you then." I kiss his cheek and run along to my next class.

Kevin's POV~
She wants to play baseball really. I watch her as she runs away and I'm in awe at how she moves so well. I mean I told her I love her but I haven't made her mine and I want her to be mine, I don't think I could stand and watch her in another man's arms, this lunch time when we are alone on the field I'll ask her then. I turn around to go to my class when Jade surprises me with her presents.

"Jesus."

"Why were you in the toilet with her. Were you kissing her?" She asks in a jealous rage.

"You do realise you're not my girlfriend right, I don't want anything to do with you." I say.

"You did kiss her did you?" She asks again.
I roll my eyes as she really isn't getting what I am saying. How can I get this into her head that I don't want her? Ah!

"I kissed her yes, with tongue and everything. Now move I'm late for class." I say pushing past her and her collective of girls.
Jeez girls these days have no class or respect for themselves.
That's what I like about Ash, she knows what she wants in life and she doesn't have to wear make up to make herself look pretty, she does that all on her own.
