"So, this very handsome world leader, who I shall not name, invites me to dinner at the ballroom where he's staying." Says Lena. Alex, Maggie, Lena, and Sam are at my apartment for girls night. I sit on the floor, listening to her story, and taking a sip of my water. Everyone else is drinking wine, but obviously because I'm pregnant, I can't drink alcohol. "So, we get there and he tells me he has this very important question he has to ask me and I'm thinking: Ok, well he's gonna invite me up to his room. So, I'm considering my answer when he turns around and asks me... if I was baptized." "What?" I ask in shock. "No!" Sam exclaims, also shocked. "Yes, yes. So, I just burst out laughing and said no, but apparently, yeah he, uh, only sleeps with good Catholics." "That's insane." Says Maggie. "Actually, I found it kind of attractive that he believed in something so, there's always that." She says with a shrug, taking a sip of her wine. "What about you, Kara? Are you seeing anyone?" Sam asks with a smile. The room got quiet. "Uh..." I respond, trying to think of what to say. "I'm actually... still getting over a relationship." I say with a fake smile. "He moved away." Alex thankfully breaks the silence. "Yeah, what about Ruby's father? Is he still in the picture?" Alex asks. "Nope. It's just me and Ruby." She answers. "Wow. Raising a daughter by yourself. That's... that's incredible." She laughs. "I mean how do you do that?" "Uh, not very gracefully. Always behind on something. You guys will see when you have kids." Sam says. Alex and Maggie look at each other. "Well, actually... we're not... we aren't gonna have kids, so..." Alex says with a fake smile. "Yeah, we'll just be the cool aunts." Maggie says. "Great! I'm mean, that would... Ruby would love that. Also, I'm sorry for assuming." Sam says. "Oh, no, no worries." Alex says with another fake smile. "Put me down for another cool aunt." Lena says, breaking the silence. "That applies to you too, Kara." She says smiling. We laugh. "Oh, yeah, Kara, I keep forgetting you're pregnant. I'm sorry if I'm scaring you about becoming a new mother." Sam says. "Oh, no, it's fine." I say, smiling. "When are you due?" She asks. "In two and a half months." I answer. "Oh, soon. And I don't mean to pry but... the relationship you were in... is-" "Yes, he's the father." I say, cutting her off. Silence again. This time it wasn't broken so quickly. "Um... I think I should get some ice." I say, getting up. I step out into the hallway and walk over to the ice machine. As I'm getting ice, my phone rings. It's J'onn. "J'onn? What's up?" I ask. "There was a fire. No one was harmed, but I thought you should know." He answers. "Know what?" I ask. "I went out as you for a while tonight. I heard there was a fire so I went to help. There was someone inside the building. I saved him, but when we landed outside he said he was waiting for me and bowed. I think it's apart of that cult you were telling me about. You know, the one that worships Supergirl." He explains. "Yeah, I think you're right." "Thomas Coville is telling people to put themselves in danger to join. He set the fire." "He has to be stopped." I say. "You leave that to me, Kara. I just thought you should know. I don't want you involved in this." "Alright, alright. I gotta go J'onn, I'm having girls night at my place." I hang up the phone and finish getting ice. I want so badly to be out saving people again. Only two and a half more months.
Later That Week
"Kara?! What are you doing here?! It isn't safe!" Alex shouts as I show up to stop Coville at the hockey game. "I couldn't help myself! The people in the hockey stadium need my help and it's not like there's going to be Kryptonite around!" I yell back. I take a step forward, but start to feel dizzy. I fall to the ground in pain. "Kara?! What's wrong?!" Alex shouts rushing to my side. I use my x-ray vision on the probe. "Kryptonite. Inside the probe." I say in agony. "Coville, shut it off right now! Right now!" Alex screams at Coville, dragging him over to the probe. He pushes a few buttons, but nothing happens. "That was supposed to turn it off. It's not turning off!" He panics. Alex looks at the back of the probe. She takes something out. "They put Kryptonian soil samples on the probe. It's laced with Kryptonite!" Alex says. "Get it away from her!" Says J'onn over the intercom. Alex throws it across the room. I feel the pain begin to ease. I'm still too weak. "You have to fly that thing out of here." Alex says, helping me up. "I can't. I can't." I say. "Alex, you and Supergirl need to get out of there right now!" Winn shouts on the intercom. I have an idea. "Get away from here." "What?" "Quick, get away!" I struggle to stand up and use my laser vision to make a deep hole in the ground. I groan and fall to the ground. "Push it in! Push it in!" I yell at them. I try to stay awake, but I feel so weak. I have to make sure they're ok. The last thing I hear is Alex yelling at Coville to help her push it in. Then everything goes dark.Later That Night
I wake up in the medical bay at the DEO. Alex notices I'm awake. "Kara, how do you feel?" She asks, rushing to my side. "What happened?" I ask rubbing my head. "Everyone's safe, don't worry. Coville's in jail. We contained the explosion, thanks to you." She says. "Is the baby ok?" I ask, placing a hand on my bump. "Yeah, it's ok." She says, smiling. "You know, that was really dangerous. You're lucky the baby wasn't hurt." "I know." I sigh. "I'm sorry. I just can't stand it, Alex. I do nothing all day!" I exclaim. "I know, Kara. But you have to think of you're baby now." "You're right. I'm sorry, it won't happen again." "Good because I don't want my little niece or nephew to get hurt." She says, placing a hand on my bump. She pulls her hand away quickly. "Whoa." She says, looking at where her hand just was. "What?" "I think it just kicked." She says, smiling and not taking her eyes off my bump. "Yeah, he or she is usually very active." I laugh. "How come you've never told me?" "I don't know. Here." I take her hand and place it back on my stomach. We wait and watch for a while until the baby kicks again. "Whoa! That's so crazy!" Alex says, smiling widely. The door opens and J'onn walks in. "Oh, sorry, I'll just-" "No, no, J'onn, come here." Alex says. He walks over to the bed. She places his hand on my stomach. Almost immediately, he lets out a big laugh as he feels the baby kick. "Isn't that crazy?" Alex asks, smiling down at my bump. "It's... awesome." He responds. I see a tear start to fall down his cheek. "Oh, J'onn, are you ok?" He clears his throat. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine, I just..." He wipes the tear out of his eye. "It makes me think of my daughters." "J'onn, when the baby comes, I want... if it's ok with you... would it be ok if he or she called you... grandpa?" I ask, smiling. "You're like a father to me and-" "I'd be honored, Kara." He says, giving me a hug. We stay a little while longer, their hands on my stomach, waiting for another kick. Winn comes in a little later and also places his hand on my bump. As we laugh and talk, I think about how much I love them. Even though Mon-El isn't here, I know that my baby will be so loved. I can't wait to meet him or her.
