I hear a knock on my apartment door. Assuming it's Alex, I shout, "Alex, I don't want to talk right now! Please, just go!" "It's not Alex! It's Mon-El!" Surprised, I get off the couch and walk over to the door. I open it to see Mon-El standing outside with a bag. "Hey. I thought we should talk. And I brought potstickers. Like old times," he says with a smile. I smile back. "Uh, yeah, sure. Come on in," I say as he walks in. "What did you wanna talk about?" "I dunno. Just catch up, I guess. I had a few questions about the baby. And I thought we could talk about what we're gonna do when he or she gets here," he says, taking out a potsticker and sitting down on the couch. "Oh, ok," I say, sitting down and taking a potsticker for myself. "So, first of all, you've got stuff for the baby right? Like clothes and toys and diapers?" "Yup, I've been stocking up for a while." "Cool. So, do you have any names picked out yet? Boy and girl?" "I've got a boy name, but I can't decide on a girl name." "Well, that's perfect! I've got a girl name in mind. How about if it's a girl, I can pick the name and if it's a boy, you can pick the name. Deal?" he asks, holding out his hand for me to shake. "Aren't you gonna tell me the name first?" He shakes his head. "It's a surprise." "Alright, fine. Then mine's a surprise, too. But I'm only agreeing to this because I know it's gonna be a boy," I say, shaking his hand and smiling. "Yeah, ok. Whatever. It's gonna be a girl. When is the baby coming, anyways?" he asks. "About two weeks," I tell him. "Wow. I can't wait. Ok, so, my last question was what are we gonna do when the baby gets here? I mean who's gonna take the baby. I know she'll need to be with you most of the time, but should I be around to help or...?" "Huh, I never thought about that. Well, I guess he can stay with me most of the time, but when I go back to work at the DEO you can take him. And Alex will be around to help, too. So will Winn and James and Lena and J'onn, too. We've got this parenting thing under control," I say, smiling and high-fiving him. "I'm so excited. I can't wait to hold her and sing to her and tell her I love her," he says. "You could tell him right now if you want," I say, looking down at my bump. He brings his face down in front of it and whispers, "Hi, baby. I'm your daddy. I love you very much." I laugh and feel a kick. "I think that means he loves you, too." "What do you mean?" he asks. "Well, I felt him kick after you said that," I explain. "Really? You can feel him move in there?" "Haha! You said he! It's a boy!" I say, laughing. "Here. Put your hand right here," I say, moving his hand onto my stomach. "Now wait." After a while, he looks up at me, smiling. "Whoa! I felt it! That's so cool!" "I know right?" We sit there talking about the baby for a little while more. "I'm really glad you're back, Mon-El." "Me, too," he says, smiling. "Well, uh, it's getting late. I should get back to the ship. Imra will be worried," he says, getting up. "Oh, right. Here let me walk you out," I say, struggling to stand up. He offers me his hand. "Thanks. It was regally nice talking to you again. Like old times," I say, walking him to the door. "Yeah, I enjoyed it." We stand there staring at each other for a moment. "Well, goodnight, Kara. And goodnight, baby," he says to my bump. I smile. He looks up at me and pulls me into a hug. It feels quite awkward, but I hug him back. He pulls away and pecks me quickly on the cheek. We blush. "Sorry. It was supposed to be a nice little goodnight kiss. Not, uh, romantic," he says, looking at his shoes. "It's alright," I say. We stare at each other longer. I don't know what's happening, but I like it. We lean in slowly. "Kara..." he says. I shush him and close my eyes. Before our lips touch, I wince in pain. "What's wrong?" he asks, worried. "I don't know," I say, placing a hand on my stomach. I feel a pain again and grab Mon-El's arm. "Was that a kick?" he asks. "Um, no, it felt much worse." I feel it again. "Oh my Rao. Oh my Rao. Oh my Rao. What do we do? What's happening? I thought you said the baby was gonna come in about two weeks!" Mon-El says, panicking. "Maybe he wants to come early!" I say, grabbing his other arm. "Ok, ok, ok. Think, Mon-El. Um, I should, uh, call someone. Call Alex. Yes," he says to himself. He starts to walk away to pick up his phone, but I grab onto him tighter. "Oh, right. Uh, just come with me. I'm here. Don't worry. Everything's gonna be ok." We walk over slowly to the counter. He picks up his phone and calls Alex. "Alex? It's Mon-El. I'm at Kara's apartment. We need you. I don't know what's happening, but Kara's in a lot of pain. I think the baby's coming. Ok, we'll be there as soon as possible." He hangs up. "Ok, Kara. We have to get to the DEO." I nod and try to steady my breathing and Mon-El breathes with me. He looks kind of silly and I let out a small laugh. "What is it? Are you ok?" he asks. "I just love you," I say as the pain goes away for a second. I pull him into kiss. I pull away when the pain comes back. "I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I-" "It's ok. We'll talk about it later. Right now we need to go," he says, smiling.
