"What do you think? You like it?" I ask my baby as I lay a little onesie on my belly. I wait a moment and feel a kick. I smile. "I'll take that as a yes." I fold up the onesie and put it in a pile of other baby clothes. I reach for the next bag on the table as I sit on the couch opening presents from my baby shower earlier that day. The clothes I pull out are from Alex. She bought two of the same shirt. One blue and one pink since we didn't know if the baby was a boy or a girl yet. On the front it said: My Favorite Aunt Gave Me This Shirt. On the back it said: Did I Mention She's My Favorite? I smile as I picture my little baby wearing it in a few months. I fold them up, lay them in the pile, and continue opening the gifts. There were mountains and mountains of baby toys, teething rings, diapers, burp cloths, stuffed animals, and every other thing a baby might need all over my apartment. I open the last gift and sigh as I lay back on the couch. I look down at my belly. "You are going to be so spoiled," I say, giggling. I feel another kick. "You agree?" I ask. "Well, I guess that means you're loved. And you definitely are loved," I say, rubbing my belly. My heart sinks, thinking about Mon-El. "I just wish your daddy was here with us. He loved you so much. And he always will wherever he is. I probably tell you this everyday, don't I?" Another kick. "Well, I just never want you to forget it," I say, smiling. I hear a knock on the door. "Coming!" I yell as I struggle to get off the couch and waddle to the door. I open it to see my sister's face. "I'm back! And I have donuts!" She says, holding up a box from the donut shop. "Yummy!" I say, closing the door behind her. "I just finished sorting everything," I tell Alex with a sigh. "All I need now is a crib and I'm set." "Awesome! But Kara, where are you gonna put all this stuff? And more importantly, where are you gonna put the baby?" She asked, opening the box and taking out two donuts. "Hmm... I guess I didn't think about that," I say with a giggle. "Well, I can always keep some things at my apartment for when I'm taking care of him or her," she says. "That'd be great. Before... Mon-El left, we started talking about finding a bigger place, but I guess now that he's gone we uh... won't be needing that." I say sadly, taking a bite out of my donut. "I know it must be hard, Kara. But you have to remember that we're all here for you," she says, reaching her hand across the table to grab mine. We sit there just eating our donuts, holding hands, and talking for while. When we're finished, she helps me sort out things that can go to her apartment and find places for things in my apartment. Half way through organizing, Alex gets a call. "It's the DEO," she informs me. "Hey, J'onn, is everything ok? What? Wait, how long? And we've never noticed it before? Not on the periodic table? How is that possible? When are we gonna investigate it? You want me to come down there? Uh huh. Yeah, I understand. Alright, I'm on my way." She hangs up the phone. "Sorry, I'm needed at the DEO." She begins to get her coat on. "Let me come with you," I say, eagerly. "No, Kara, you just stay here. I don't want you involved and neither does J'onn," she says, opening the door. "Please, Alex? I won't-" She cuts me off. "No, Kara. Now I gotta go. I love you. Bye." She closes the door. I sigh. That phone call sounded important. I have to know what J'onn was saying. I should've used my super hearing. As much as I wanted to help, I was exhausted and I really needed to sleep. I'll worry about it tomorrow. I climb into bed and look at the clock before I shut my eyes. It reads 8:54 p.m.

5:27 a.m.
I wake up to my phone ringing. It's Alex. "Alex? It's 5:30 in the morning. What is it?" I ask, sleepily. "Kara, get to the DEO right now," she says with urgency in her voice. I use my super speed to get ready. "What's wrong?" I ask, worried. "I'll explain when you get here. Just hurry," she says. I can tell she's running around on the other end. "Alex, are you ok?" I ask. "I'm fine. Just get here soon. It's..." Her voice trails off. "What?" I ask, worriedly. "It's Mon-El. He's here."
